4.1.0.56 Allow list ignored?

Recommended Posts

Maybe I don't understand the Allow List functionality. I want to exclude a folder from MWB that has never been flagged as an issue.

I was troubleshooting a slow PC and found MWB scanning files in an iDrive folder I had previously allowed that is used as a cache for temporary files - C:\ProgramData\IDrive\IBCOMMON\User. I then allowed the User folder and the files were still scanned. The issue is that there are so many temporary files generated that MWB scanning them drives the hard drive to 100% utilization so everything else crawls.

If I'm doing it wrong, how do I exclude a folder from any MWB processing? Thx.

I do not know about the "exclusion issue" but if this is a manual scan, everything else will crawl because MB will utilize as much resources it can to finish the scan as fast as possible. You should not attempt to use the computer for anything else during a manual scan.

No scan at all. I assume it was real time protection but that's a guess. Upon creation MWB examined them.

We need to get information from this machine in order to have the proper detail to help you forward.

Thank you for the responses. In the Resource Monitor MWB was reading around 70 files simultaneously and the top disk utilizer.

Going back to my question, how can I exclude a folder so MWB ignores everything inside of it? (real time, not scans) Adding the folder to the Allow List does not stop MWB from checking the files as they are created.

Malwarebytes doesn't really allow you to exclude an item from being checked by real-time protection not scans as they are directly connected.  That said, the most likely culprit for high disk usage in Malwarebytes would be the Ransomware Protection component.  Please try disabling it to see if that makes any difference.

To do so, open Malwarebytes and in the Real-Time Protection area click the switch next to Ransomware Protection and click Yes if prompted by User Account Control to disable it, then restart your system and test to see if the issue is gone.

Please let us know how it goes and how the system performs with that component disabled.

Thanks
