Removal of the malaware "us y atwola "

Recommended Posts

Please describe what you are seeing that leads you to believe this is malware. Is it a web page you see as your home page or are constantly being redirected to or something else?

Everything I can find about "atwola" indicates it's simply a tracking cookie.

When I check the site

http://us.y.atwola.com/

It comes up clean for all scanners.

Atwola is an ad network.    Let me add these remarks & suggestions.

As Ron, noted what web browser do you use ?     The issue of logging-in into a site is a separate factor.

Let me suggest you apply the following:

See this article on the Malwarebytes Blog
https://blog.malwarebytes.com/security-world/technology/2019/01/browser-push-notifications-feature-asking-abused/

You want to disable the ability of each web browser on this machine from being able to allow "push ads". That means Chrome, Firefox, or Edge browser (on Windows 10), or on Opera.

Scroll down to the tips section "How do I disable them".

If this pc has the Google Chrome browser, or the Brave browser, I suggest you install the Malwarebytes Browser guard for Chrome.

To get & install the Malwarebytes Browser Guard extension for Chrome,

Open this link in your Chrome   browser:

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/malwarebytes/ihcjicgdanjaechkgeegckofjjedodee

Then proceed with the setup.

If the pc has Mozilla Firefox, to get & install the Malwarebytes Browser Guard  Firefox extension.

Open this link in your Firefox browser

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/malwarebytes/

Then proceed with the setup.
