If you haven't done so already, please run these two tools and then attach the logs in your next reply:

NOTE: The tools and the information obtained is safe and not harmful to your privacy or your computer, please allow the programs to run if blocked by your system.

  • Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST)
    1. Download FRST and save it to your desktop
Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit
    2. Double-click to run FRST and when the tool opens click "Yes" to the disclaimer
    3. Press the "Scan" button
    4. This will produce two files in the same location (directory) as FRST: FRST.txt and Addition.txt
      • Leave the log files in the current location, they will be automatically collected by mb-check once you complete the next set of instructions
  • MB-Check
    1. Download MB-Check and save to your desktop
    2. Double-click to run MB-Check and within a few second the command window will open, press "Enter" to accept the EULA then click "OK"
    3. This will produce one log file on your desktop: mb-check-results.zip
      • This file will include the FRST logs generated from the previous set of instructions
      • Attach this file to your forum post by clicking on the "Drag files here to attach, or choose files..." or simply drag the file to the attachment area

Yes, that is correct.  Thanks very much for answering my question.

The programme help isn't exactly clear if it does refer to simply a continuous record of past scan detection or whether it is a present scan detection.  I was not sure what exactly: how many threats were detected during scans

It may be an idea to improve: Please note that the number of items scanned includes individual files that are part of archive files, as well as components in dynamic link library (DLL) files

i.e. the programme states;

Protection History

This panel shows three key statistics. It shows how many items were scanned, how many threats were detected during scans, and how many threats were detected by real-time protection. Please note that the number of items scanned includes individual files that are part of archive files, as well as components in dynamic link library (DLL) files. Also note that real-time detections can only occur in Premium and Premium Trial modes.

Hi tekitoi:

Several users have posted in the MB v3 Comments and Suggestions board that they would like the # of total items scanned and # of scan detections on the main dashboard to be reset to "0" at the start of each scan, or at least have the option to reset these counters back to "0" when they choose.  See Reset Protection History to 0 and Reset of "Scan Detections" Needed for a few examples.

So far every file detection I've had with MB v3 has been confirmed as a false positive in the False Positives board so I think it's meaningless (and misleading) to keep a running total of the number of times MB v3 has detected a potential threat on my system displayed on the main dashboard.

If you click the Quarantine tab on the MB v3 interface your might be able to see the file or registry entry that was detected during one of your past scans, although it might not be listed there if the item was permanently removed from your system.
