MSVBVM60.dll was not found....but I have the file???

Did you run through all of the steps from the beginning of this topic to see if any of them corrected the issue? If not, then please do so. If it doesn't correct it then follow AdvancedSetup's instructions above so that your system can be analyzed by one of the experts.

Yes, I've tried everything in this thread. As for AdvancedSetup's instructions, I get stuck at the part where I'm suppose to install Avira AntiVir Personal. When I double-click the installation file, nothing happens.

Also when I try to install AVG I get a "Something bad happened in the application [...]" error message. I'm pretty sure there's some malicious code preventing me from installing AV-software. Seeing as how it's my sister's laptop and she needs it by tomorrow, I have no choice but to reinstall Windows. Thanks though.

I couldn't find a listing for my particular problem. For some reason, some program called "ANTIVIR" has gotten onto my computer, and it is a royal pain in the ass. Keeps popping up bogus virus warnings, and keeps trying to access a page on the net to "update" to the "full version". I tried to go through PC Tools and get a program to get rid of it, that is "supposedly" FREE, but it WON'T WORK until I pay them $30.00 !!! I don't know how to get rid of this crap! This is spyware posing as an anti-spyware / virus program!!!!

Do you know of any program I can get that'll get rid of it?
