  1. Hello mbressman, and welcome.
On my Windows 8.1, I always use the Desktop Short-cut as it is easier. . Sorry but I avoid the "Metro" view as I do not never need it.
Go to Start (Windows flag) > Opem All Programs > Right click on Malwarebytes Anti-Malware listing and select Send to > Then across to Desktop (Create Shortcut).

This merely offers you a quicker way to find Scan Logs, or to make sure the program has Updated correctly, or run a manual scan at any time.

Please post back if I have not answered exactly what you wish to know.

    Thank You -

The Red is the ratio of Antivirus / Antimalware companies that detect it as Unwanted or carrying Infections

Note that the result above is just a very brief example, there are hundreds more.

Being that you are probably infected, feel free to follow the instructions below to receive free, one-on-one expert assistance in checking your system and clearing out any infections and correcting any damage done by the malware.

    *******************************************************************************************************************************

2 little boys are sitting on the beach examining each others navels..

"What are those things ??", Asks the first one.

The smart one replies, "Well, when you're born, there's a piece of hose hanging out there. They cut it off, twist the end around and tape it inside"

Still confused, the first one asks "What for ??"

The second one replied "So you won't go pssshhhh, and go down !!"

    *********************************************************************************************************************************

(Not For the Religious ones) -

A little girl was sitting at the table drawing. Her mother asked, "What are you drawing, darling ??"

The girl replied "I'm drawing a picture of God"

Mother said, "But how can you do that dear ? Nobody knows what God looks like !!"

The girl replied " They will when I've finished!!"

    ************************************************************************************************************************************************

A small girl went out to the garden where here father was working, and asked "Daddy, what does sex mean??"

Dad scratched the side of his head, and wondered if he had heard correctly -

"What does what mean, he asked ??"

    Plainly, "Sex  !!" She repeated.

"Why ... err ... , Why do you want to know what, sex means" asks the father.

"Because Mummy told me to tell you, lunch will be ready in a couple of them"

    *************************************************************************************************************************************************

Mum was having a heck of a time getting her son ready for school this day ......

    "I'm not going," he screamed.

"The teachers all make fun of me, and the kids all hate me, so I'm just not going any more."

Mum replied - "OK I'll give you 2 good reasons why you will go son !!

First : You are 49years old

and Second : You are the Headmaster"

    ......................................................................................................................................................................................................

Just found another few dozen, but time eludes me tonight ....

  4. Hello Liz33.

I think that you have confused the Free Trial version, with the Paid Pro version. The Free version is not active as a scanner, but is just a very good cleaning tool.

You have just used a trial of what the paid Pro Version can do once paid for and activated.

Do you understand that the first download, was just a Free 14 day Trial of the paid or Pro version ??

With Windows 8 / 8.1, Defender is automatically activated without another Antivirus program.

Note that Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is not an Antivirus program, and has never claimed to be one.

Sorry if you misunderstood that your trial was only for 14 days, and it not reverts to an Inactive Malware Scanner.

Please post back for any more information you may want -

    Thank You.

  5. From what I've read, IP. Board has been exploited frequently including at security forums. Which begs a few questions.

Considering that "reports say" the White House and many large companies are often compromised, the MBAM personal record is very good.

I don't remember this ever happening with Malwarebytes before.

@ Internaut : This shows the personal security level applied here.

  7. Green tree snakes (Dendrolaphis punctulata) can be dangerous. Yes, tree snakes or grass snakes, not brown snakes or taipans, or rattlers. Here’s why:
A couple in Townsville (Nth Australia) had a lot of potted plants.

During a recent cold winter (for Townsville that is!), a wife was bringing some of the valued tender ones indoors to protect them from the cold night.
It turned out that a little green tree snake was hidden in one of the plants. When it had warmed up, it slithered out and the wife saw it go under the lounge – she let out a very loud scream.

The husband (who was taking a shower) ran out into the living room naked to see what the problem was and she told him there was a snake under the lounge.
He got down on the floor on his hands and knees to look for it. About that time the family dog came and cold-nosed him on the behind. He thought the snake had bitten him, so he screamed and fell over on the floor.

His wife thought he had had a heart attack, so she covered him up, told him to lie still and called an ambulance. The paramedics rushed in, would not listen to his protests, loaded him on their stretcher, and started carrying him out.
About that time, the snake came out from under the lounge and the paramedic saw it and dropped his end of the stretcher. That’s when the man broke his leg and why he is still in hospital.

The wife still had the problem of the snake in the house, so she called on a neighbour who volunteered to capture the snake. He armed himself with a rolled-up newspaper and began poking under the lounge.
Soon he decided it was gone and told the woman, who sat down on the lounge in relief. But while relaxing, her hand dangled in between the cushions, where she felt the snake wriggling around.

She screamed and fainted, the snake rushed back under the lounge. The neighbour, seeing her lying there passed out, tried to use CPR to revive her.

The neighbour’s wife, who had just returned from shopping at Woolies, saw her husband’s mouth on the woman’s mouth and slammed her husband on the back of the head with a bag of canned goods, knocking him out and cutting his scalp to a point where it needed stitches.

The noise woke the woman from her dead faint and she saw her neighbour lying on the floor with his wife bending over him, so she assumed that the snake had bitten him. She went to the kitchen and got a small bottle of whiskey and began pouring it down the man’s throat.
By now, the police had arrived.

They saw the unconscious man, smelled the whiskey, and assumed that a drunken fight had occurred. They were about to arrest them all, when the women tried to explain how it all happened over a little garden snake!
The police called an ambulance, which took away the neighbour and his sobbing wife.

Now, the little snake again crawled out from under the lounge and one of the policemen drew his gun and fired at it. He missed the snake and hit the leg of the end table. The table fell over, the lamp on it shattered and, as the bulb broke, it started a fire in the curtains.

The other policeman tried to beat out the flames, and fell through the window into the yard on top of the family dog who, startled, jumped out and raced into the street, where an oncoming car swerved to avoid it and smashed into the parked police car.

Meanwhile, neighbours saw the burning curtains and called in the fire brigade. The firemen had started raising the fire ladder when they were halfway down the street. The rising ladder tore out the overhead wires, put out the power, and disconnected the power in a ten-square city block area (but they did get the house fire out).
Time passed! The snake was caught and both men were discharged from the hospital, the house was repaired, the dog came home, the police acquired a new car and all was right with their world.
A while later they were watching TV and the weatherman announced a cold snap for that night. The wife asked her husband if he thought they should bring in their plants for the night.

And that’s when he shot her.

  8. Hi ausgumbie,

With the IP number that you have omitted, I / we usually start with Google and see if it turns up an entry.

You seem to have used this "blind method" as your option also.

This can be a "crawler" bot fishing for any open chanels, or for specific targets to enter and leave a "spy deposit" or infection.

These are not unusual if you use Torrent programs, as they will then lock onto you as a future target.

Do you have any particular program open / in use at the time of these hits, as this can often help ??

  11. Hello larksys and Welcome.

    There are 2 options here.

First - The program can be repaired by a Fresh Uninstall and Re-install that will clear all old settings.

Second - There may be an infection involved that keeps resetting your programs

Personally, I would try the First idea - Follow the latest directions From Here and then re-install with your correct ID and Key for the program.

If you still have problems, we will look at the option that an infection is altering your settings.

    Thank You -

  12. virustotal.com displays the correct reading for a Home-made Toolbar =>> Malwarebytes   >>  PUP.Optional.ClientConnect

As an Optional item, you should be able to add exclusions for this single item ...............

Note that it is not called malware toolbar, just Optional.ClientConnect. A much better description than most other detection tools.

It could also just be the fact that you do not have it registered ??

  13. II can recall my XP SP3 often needing a "Reset Shutdown" and no problems ever came from that.

I never called it a "Hard Shutdown" since there was a button provided for this specific purpose.

Since I ran a disk check every few months (and it showed no problems), I considered the "Provided Button" to be nothing more than a normal feature.

My later models seem to remove this "External" option, so I just used CTRL + ALT + Delete, and end the running programs in Windows 7.

Waiting for a need to do this in Windows 8 still, but no severe problems yet ..........

  14. The scene was the nursing home, as old Doug was nearing his last few breaths

His nurse, his wife, his daughter and 2 sons, are with him.

He asks for 2 witnesses to be present and a camcorder be in place to record his last wishes, and when all is ready he begins to speak:

My son, "Bernie, I want you to take the Mayfair houses.""

My daughter "Sybil, you take the apartments over in the east end.""

My son, "Jamie, I want you to take over the offices in the City Centre."

"Sarah, my dear wife, please take all the residential buildings on the banks of the river."

The nurse and witnesses are blown away as they did not realize his extensive holdings

As old Doug slips away, the nurse says, "Mrs. Smith, your husband must have been such a hard-working man to have accumulated all this property".

Sarah replies, "Property ??? .... the old bugger had a paper route!"
