  1. United Nations Telephone Survey ---- Results stand to reason ........

Last month, a world-wide telephone survey was conducted by the United Nations.

    The only question asked was:

"Would you please give your honest opinion about possible solutions to the food shortage in the rest of the world ?"

*The survey was a complete failure because:

In Eastern Europe they didn't know what "honest" meant.

In Western Europe they didn't know what "shortage" meant.

In Africa they didn't know what "food" meant.

In China they didn't know what "opinion" meant.

In the Middle East they didn't know what "solution" meant.

In South America they didn't know what "please" meant.

In the USA they didn't know what "the rest of the world" meant.

And in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Britain everyone hung up
as soon as they heard the Indian accent.

If anyone else was missed in the results - Sorry .......

  2. Hello -

You covered it all in #2.

The new version can install Over 2.0.1 without need for uninstalling (99.99% of times).

Just click OK and follow the prompts.

Both of my computers updated Over the early version, and there was no need to uninstall anything.

From memory it took about 3 minutes and a few clicks to install the latest version.

    Thank You -

  3. Hello -

Basically , Yes if you are using the Pro Version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware it will prevent these programs from installing. The FBI have identified at least one Russian suspected of these infections.

If you are only using the Free Version, it is a great Clean-up Tool, but it will not prevent these infections from installing.

The problem is not just in the UK or USA, but it is a world wide problem, and you need Active Versions of Antivirus and Antimalware tools.

This has been a problem since September last year, and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware was on the job of preventing it from installing at the start.

    Thank You -

  4. Hello anon_private -

GameOver Zeus (GOZ), a peer-to-peer (P2P) variant of the Zeus family of bank credential-stealing malware was identified in September 2011.

US disrupts $100M GameOver Zeus malware cybercrime ring from www cnet today, and GameOver Zeus P2P Malware from Department of Homeland Security, yesterday.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware states that the Active Pro version is able to prevent the .exe from running, as it will with CryptoLocker Infection.

It is important to note that only the Pro Version will prevent these infections from executing on your computer.

While the Free Version is the best Clean-up Tool, it can not "prevent" the program from starting / installing.

  5. Hello Portal_Pass91

A quote from Wikipedia - From Here

This is the top section, but you can also scroll down to "Conflicts", where the opinion is not very good.

Pando is an application which is mainly aimed at sending (and receiving) files which would normally be too large to send via more "conventional" means. It uses both peer-to-peer (BitTorrent protocol) and client-server architectures and was released for Windows and Mac OS X operating systems.

Pando shut down its servers and ceased business on August 31, 2013. As of February 24, 2014 the Pando Media Booster has been hijacked and unsuspecting persons who install a prompted update have their internet browsers hijacked and a virus called the "Sweet Page" browser virus is installed on their machine.

Note that all Antivirus and Antimalware programs will use their own definitions for tracking if a program is good or bad. Rescan and follow the program that you prefer to trust .....

Personally: I would remove the Add-on and Re-scan with your single Antivirus.

    Thank You -

  8. Hash Brownies / Cookies were actually a delight (DD1 + 2 years ;) ) .......

You could slowly chew them, and then swallow the mild tasting soft biscuits.

About 1 hour later, after the world slowed down, you did get a form of the Munchies (and then ordered a pizza)

If you ever watch The Big Bang Theory, there is an episode devoted to this subject, where Howard finds some "Hippy Type moms" in a Combi Van who offer him the cookies.

Seems like Mr Charlie knows also - Those were the days, I missed the draft call-up by 2 days over here.

  9. AUSTRALIAN IDIOT SIGHTINGS.
These were all quoted in newspapers (must be true).

You may have seen variations of these posted earlier (time I updated them).

    IDIOT SIGHTING 1:
I went through the McDonald's driveway window and I gave the cashier a $5 note.
Our total was $4.25, so I also handed her 25c.
She said, 'You gave me too much money.'
I said, 'Yes I know, but this way you can just give me a dollar coin back.'
She sighed and went to get the manager who asked me to repeat my request.
I did so, and he handed me back the 25c, and said 'We're sorry but we don't do that kind of thing.'
The cashier then proceeded to give me back 75 cents in change.
Do not confuse the people at MacD's in Shepperton Vic.

    IDIOT SIGHTING 2:
We had to have the garage door repaired.
The repairman told us that one of our problems was that
we did not have a 'large' enough motor on the opener.
I thought for a minute, and said that we had the largest one made at that time, a 1/2 horsepower..
He shook his head and said, 'You need a 1/4 horsepower.'
I responded that 1/2 was larger than 1/4 and he said, 'NOOO, it's not. Four is larger than two.'
We haven't used that Irish repairman since.
    Happened in Bankstown NSW.

    IDIOT SIGHTING 3:
I live in a semi rural area.
We recently had a new neighbour call the local council to request the removal of the WOMBAT CROSSING sign on our road.
The reason: 'Too many wombats are being hit by cars out here!
I don't think this is a good place for them to be crossing anymore.'
    Story from Bauple Qld

    IDIOT SIGHTING 4:
My daughter went to a Mexican takeaway and ordered a taco.
She asked the person behind the counter for 'minimal lettuce.'
He said he was sorry, but they only had iceberg lettuce.
    >From Castle Hill, Sydney ........

    IDIOT SIGHTING 5:
I was at the airport, checking in at the gate when an airport employee asked,
'Has anyone put anything in your baggage without your knowledge?'
To which I replied, 'If it was without my knowledge, how would I know?'
He smiled knowingly and nodded, 'That's why we ask.'
    This happened at Melbourne Airport

    IDIOT SIGHTING 6:
The pedestrian light on the corner beeps when it's safe to cross the street.
I was crossing with an 'intellectually challenged' co-worker of mine.
She asked if I knew what the beeper was for.
I explained that it signals blind people when the light is red.
Appalled, she responded, 'What on earth are blind people doing driving?!'
She is a government employee in the Adelaide P.O. SA

    IDIOT SIGHTING 7:
When my husband and I arrived at a car dealership to pick up our car after a service, we were told the keys had been locked in it.
We went to the service department and found a mechanic working feverishly to unlock the driver's side door.
As I watched from the passenger side, I instinctively tried the door handle and discovered that it was unlocked
'Hey,' I announced to the technician, 'its open!'
His reply, 'I know. I already did that side.'

    STAY ALERT!
    They walk among us........

As you get older three things happen. The first is your memory goes,,,,,, and I can't remember the other two ...

  10. But I still have to manually connect to the internet.

    Hi -

As a fellow Aussie, can you please list your current ISP.

I have been through many local ones and settled with iiNet for the last 6 years.

Great service and I never have a problem like I did with Telstra (and others).

28/12/2013 12:55:43 PM, Error: Service Control Manager [7001] - The HomeGroup Provider service depends on the Function Discovery Provider Host service which failed to start because of the following error: The dependency service or group failed to start.

This (above) may be your problem, so I would follow the advice from AdvancedSetup Re:

Available Assistance for Possibly Infected Computers

    Thank You -

  11. Have you installed the KMPlayer recently?

This is well know to be caused by something KMPlayer installs called Pandora.tv. If you open up Task Manager you should find a process called KMPService.exe which will kill the popups in MBAM temporarily if you end it.

Better yet, go to C:\Program files\Pandora.tv\Panservice (could be Program Files (86) if you're 64-bit) and run the Unins000.exe which will uninstall it completely.

Personally I would avoid KMPlayer totally these days, it's become full of adware and there's even talk of it logging your activity as well. There are plenty of other quality media players around without all these issues...

A list from Virus Total on this I.P address information -

Please follow the advice above from AdvancedSetup.

    Thank You -

  12. I love my Window XP and can not find my way around this Windows 7 , that I am using.

Windows 7 is not much more than XP on steroids.

Just wait till someone first puts a Windows 8 system in front of you.

How do I turn it on > How do I get there > What is this tab ETC, ETC,

Yet the lady next door just got a Windows 8 tablet (never had a computer) and she flies into everything that is installed easier than most people can work out how to use a new cell phone.

Windows 7 runs 90% of the programs that XP ran plus much more -

Run as Administrator is about the main change you need to make -

  13. I predict Windows XP will still be at least 15% of all computers running Windows on April of 2015. Now I'll need to bookmark this prediction and see how well I did another 16 months later.

When you look at all the larger businesses (private and public) that still use XP Pro you will not kill it in a very short time.

Many public hospitals (including our large public) and doctors all use XP and often know not much else about this change. I only know of 1 that uses a Mac System now.

After being in there several times in the last month, I found that they have no idea that there is a change going down, and that it is going to be very soon. The figures above will be about the normal for 12 months after the so called "change".

Most of the people I talked to had no idea that anything was changing, and only the younger students were using Windows 7, with none on Windows 8, They may be top medical minds, but their IT departments are not going to get the systems up to current (Windows 8) in a month or even 3...

IT Departments are mostly to blame for not changing systems.

MBAM will still cover XP, as will most Antivirus / Antimalware companies for another 2 or 3 years, and if they do not, it is a lot of MONEY they are going to lose ..............

  14. You think English is easy ???
Read to the end for another group of new twists.

    1) The bandage was "wound" around the wound.
    2) The farm was used to "produce" produce
    3) The dump was so full that it had to "refuse" more refuse
    4) We must "polish" the Polish furniture.
    5) He could "lead" if he would get the lead out.
    6) The soldier decided to "desert" his "dessert" in the "desert" ??
    7) Since there is no time like the "present", he thought it was time to "present" the "present".
    8) A "bass" was painted on the head of the bass drum.
    9) When shot at, the "dove" dove into the bushes.
    10) I did not "object" to the object.
    11) The insurance was "invalid" for the invalid.
    12) There was a "row" among the oarsmen about how to row.
    13) They were too "close" to the door to close it.
    14) The buck "does" funny things when the does are present.
    15) A seamstress and a "sewer" fell down into a sewer line.
    16) To help with planting, the farmer taught his "sow" to sow.
    17) The "wind" was too strong to wind the sail.
    18) Upon seeing the "tear" in the painting I shed a tear.
    19) I had to "subject" the subject to a series of tests.
    20) How can I "intimate" this to my most intimate friend ?

Can all of these be correct or have we created a monster

Let's face it - English is a crazy language.

There is no egg in eggplant, nor ham in hamburger, neither apple nor pine in pineapple.

English muffins weren't invented in England or French fries in France.

Sweetmeats are candies while sweetbreads, which aren't sweet, are meat.

We take our English for granted all too often.

But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square, and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.

So why is it that writers write, but fingers don't fing, grocers don't groce, and hammers don't ham ?

If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn't the plural of booth, beeth ?

One goose, 2 geese. So one moose, 2 meese? One index, 2 indices ?

Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend?

If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it ?

If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught ? If a vegetarian eats only vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat ?

Sometimes I think all the English speakers should be committed to an asylum for the verbally insane.

In what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital ?

Ship by truck and send cargo by ship ? Have noses that run and feet that smell ?

How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites ?

You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your house can burn up as it burns down, in which you fill in a form by filling it out and in which, an alarm goes off by going on.

English was invented by people, not computers, and it reflects the creativity of the human race, which, of course, is not a race at all.

That is why, when the stars are out, they are visible, but when the lights are out, they are invisible.

    Thank You .............

  15. Hello JOlderdude -

There is a setting (and even I missed it at first)

1 / Open your copy of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

2 / On the Top line click Settings and Click Scanner Settings

3 / Make sure all boxes are ticked and go to the Drop-down boxes below these

4 / From the Drop-down Menus, select "Show in results and Check for removal" (repeat for the box below)

There is a FAQ item, but I wanted to answer you personally, just if you had any other questions.

    Thank You -

  16. Hello and Welcome -
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is not blocking that download.

It is ESET NOD32 Version 6 Please note : You have an Old version of ESET NOD32. (Version 6)
It is now ESET NOD32 AntiVirus 7.0.302.26. You must always Update to the latest version.

Try to update your Antivirus first, and try to download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save to your Desktop.

If you still have problems, see the following pinned topic which has information on how to get help with this: Available Assistance for Possibly Infected Computers

    Thank You -

  17. OK -

Since the last time I posted this, I have now had my first Black Header come back .......

I researched a bit after the fix I posted, and the solutions were all the same.

This seemed to be very common in XP / I.E.8 combinations for years. But it forgot it may "return".

I saw a minor mention of this, when I was looking around, so I will reset it.

Now I can see how long this lasts this time ...........

    Regards all -

  18. If this post is not cut out ..........

As above, at least 95% of these are accepted by the user in EULAs of many minor downloads, plus they Thrive on any Torrent site (sorry but you say no........ YES they do).

As the removal has now become more simple (AdwCleaner / Junkware Removal Tool / etc) many people have become more "sloppy" with not taking as much care with downloads, as they just post to Experts and ask to "Clean my computer" after they drive through every mud puddle in sight.

Once in the Malware Cleaning areas, the Expert feels obliged to go over the full machine for other minor or hidden infection, and that takes valuable time and effort away from serious viral or other malware infections.

Sorry for the "rant" but I see it on at least 4 or 5 online forums (and there are dozens more) -

Said my bit - Now edit or ......... as you will

    Thank You -
