  1. Strange,

I didn't uninstall and reinstall MB Premium.  I went into Chrome to disable all my extensions other than Malwarebytes as a test.  Before I did this I went into MBG and checked and now It is no longer acting as if MB Premium is not installed.  I am able to go into Content Control and Import & Export.  It no longer has a button to Upgrade.

So for no apparent reason it seems to have corrected itself (Although before getting the logs I did a reboot of my machine and that might have done it.)

Now I'm having a new problem.  If I go into Import & Export and tell it to export everything, I get this error in Chrome and Firefox, but not in Edge.  Any ideas?

  2. Just curious.  Why do we need to do this?  MB seems to be working just fine?

It is only in Chrome that I see this oddity with MBG.  It looks fine in Firefox and Edge.

I hate to have to remove and reinstall MB if I don't really need to as then I have to redo all my settings, schedules, etc.

Was there something in the logs that indicated some kind of problem in MB?

  3. No other software I use displays pop-ups to tell you what is new.  Why doesn't MB use a link on the About page so we can click on it if we want to know what the updates were.  That is what most software does (if they do it at all).  It if very annoying to get popups like this.  You should only be using them to notify us if something is malware of some kind and you blocked it, quarantined it, etc.

Sorry guys... I was confused.  I posted that before I had my coffee this morning.  😀

The version that was quarantined in the scan was indeed 8.16.4.  The file in my downloads folder is version 8.16.1.  I didn't notice the difference and so posted that it had been quarantined, but was still in the download folder.  It wasn't.  The quarantined one was deleted from my download folder.

So, everything is good regarding how MB handled the quarantine process.

However, I still think quarantining it should not have happened so it is a false positive.  Let me know if this will be corrected or not.

    Thanks,

    Bill

  5. I just got the latest version of CrystalDiskInfo quarantined in my scan last night.  The file was CrystalDiskInfo8_16_1.exe which is the downloaded install file.

    Here is what VirusTotal shows.

I'm thinking this is a false positive.

One thing I don't understand.  The scan report says it was quarantined and it is in the quarantined list, but it is also still in its original location in my download folder.  Why is it there?  When quarantined isn't it supposed to be removed from its original location?

  6. I did an update and it did create an icon on my desktop.  That really makes no sense.  I can see it on a new install.  However, if I'm already using Malwarebytes and I do an update then if I already have an icon on the desktop that icon will still work and if I don't already have one on the desktop I probably don't want one there.  So, for an update it makes no sense to add an icon to the desktop.
