  2. Yes I think Avast has made some changes.... I just do it on my AV even if I am not having issues, this insures that they will NOT conflict with each other.

  4. @ Nick Oliver Glad it worked for you.... Malwarebytes does not recommend running it safe mode unless you were asked to do it by an expert, it was designed to run in normal mode so that it can perform its best work. Running it in safe mode can sometimes cause more issues (for example not being able to logon afterwards). In this case it worked for you and thats good.
  5. you are quite welcome... Should you have further questions don't hesitate to ask....
  6. Sometime AV software has problems with some of the files that are used by Malwarebytes, so its a good idea to exclude the files used by malwarebytes on your antivirus software as listed below: Please exclude the following files from your antivirus: Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you'll need to exclude them from it as well For Windows XP: C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys For 32 bit versions Windows Vista or Windows 7: C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys For 64 bit versions of Windows Vista or Windows 7: C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys C:\Windows\SysWoW64\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys Please post back and let us know how it went.
  7. Antivirus software you can find info for it on Wiki... MBAM is intended to find malware that other anti-virus and spyware programs generally miss, including but not limited to rogue security software, adware and spyware although it is somewhat in-effective against rootkits.[2][3]
  8. Hello and welcome to malwarebytes! Here is some information on the IP Protection feature you can access it by Clicking HERE Hope this helps.
  9. Glad you got it working now and you were able to remove your infestation. Now that you have it removed, rename your Malwarebytes program file back to mbam.exe. Then run another quick scan. If Malwarebytes runs fine (including updating) and running a quick scan you should be back to normal. If however after your rename the file back to mbam.exe and the file gets deleted, you get error codes, or it closes before it is done, then you still have an infection that is causing those things, then you would have to post in the HJT section. Let us know.
  10. Hello southern belle, and Welcome to Malwarebytes.... First off, Malwarebytes is not an anti virus software. It is an Anti Malware software that was created to work hand in hand with your anti virus software. You may look into Microsoft Security Essentials for your anti virus needs for your project. Both MSE and MBAM would be a great addition to your project. Second, I use the full version of Malwarebytes and have not experience any problems with using VPN with it. Lastly, as far as the corporate license and your ability to use it in your project, you will have to wait for a reply from one of the Administrators or someone on the staff, as I am not on the staff, just a loyal customer and forum helper..... Hope this helps a little....
  11. I also use a MAC laptop... I have to do updates on it as well.... I am sure its due to security issues, you just don't hear about them cause its not so popular....

  13. GREAT I am glad it worked for you.... Now for the last steps, run MBAM, update it then run a quick scan to make sure there is nothing left behind.... Any further questions don't hesitate to ask....
  14. Great glad you got it sorted out... by resetting IE8 you disabled any add ons that may have been causing the issue... good job! If you need any further assistance don't hesitate to ask....
  15. LOL.... where did I leave that duct tape to plug them holes.....
  16. Your Welcome.... let us know if it works out for you....
  17. This section in the FAQ covers what the IP Protection module does and how you can add that page to the exception or exclusion in MBAM... Read about it BY CLICKING HERE
  18. sounds like a nice idea, but I don't think it would be to easy to do as they have updates about 5 times a day.... that would be hard work on them to be updating the executable every time...
