  1. Hello and Welcome to Malwarebytes You can find out what you need to know about the IP Protection Module HERE If that does not fully answer your question get back with us and we will be happy to help.
  2. @ AdvancedSetup Just wondering, if you have multiple users, and they are password protected, and also set to private so that other users can not access the files, can MBAM access those folders there under that profile to do a scan and clean the necessary files? I hope this makes sense?
  3. it is possible that the IP protection is blocking them. Try and disable the IP protection and see if you can get to the sites with the protection disabled. If you can then you will have to enter the exception for those sites.

  9. Glad you got it fixed... You are welcome.
  10. Although you are more protected surfing the web with a limited account, it is not 100% safe. Some Malware is designed to attack vulnerabilities and security flaws in your computer that will allow the malware to run as an admin even if you are in a limited account. You must ensure you keep your windows and other installed software updated to minimize your chances of getting infected.
  11. yes that could do it... Now that you can get connected make sure you update your MBAM and run a quick scan to ensure you are clean, current db at this moment is now 3811.
  12. Hello emaleroland, and welcome to Malwarebytes.org Sounds like some malware is preventing you from getting your updates and to some sites. 14. Hello Ookluh, and Welcome to Malwarebytes Glad to hear that Malwarebytes saved you. If you are running this on a work computer so you don't get in trouble with your admin, you should talk to your network admin about getting a corporate License for the MBAM program as the free one is for home / personal use only. Using it in a work environment requires a license. If you feel you may still have an infection going on please follow the below instructions. We don't work on Malware removal in the general forums. 16. Glad you got it to work..... @ Yardbird.... now that you mention it, we could have decucted that he had AVG from that toolbar....
  17. A program I have used in the past and works really good once you get it configured and working is called ChoiceMail works really well. When I was using it, it would catch over 90% of my spam. I have now switched to a corporate mail filter called MXForce so I no longer have to use Choicemail.
  18. That is correct, you must be logged in as an Administrator or have Admin rights to update it.
  19. @ Gadgetdude Hello and Welcome to Malwarebytes. As a Network Admin, I do not really like it when my users are making changes to their computers. A lot of companies have polices in place to prevent you from altering such changes. Being that this is a work computer you should have your IT guys have a look at those changes and see if in fact Symantec is the one making those changes. We do not really allow changes being made to computers because sometimes this causes more harm than good. Some work environments also have Group Polices that make changes to computers for security reasons. As a side note as well, Malwarebytes free edition is for home users / personal use, and if you are using it on a corporate computer you should ask your IT guys about getting a corporate version of Malwarebytes. But to answer your question, without seeing the acutual log files to see the exact infections we can not give you a definete answer, so you will have to follow the instructions from Blaze to get help from an expert..
  20. Hello ParanoidAndroid, and welcome to Malwarebytes.org If you think it is a false positive, you can submit it in the False Positive section for analysis RIGHT HERE Just for your info, I do not have that file located in my windows folder, and you are right it should be in the Windows\system32 folder. But to correct your problem for sure, please seek help from the Experts by following the below instructions. We don't work on Malware removal in the general forums. 21. when you run the clean tool if you get this (SHGetValue failed with error code 0. ) then it means that when you uninstalled MBAM, it did its job completely. What AV are you using? Are you logged in as an administrator?
  22. @ *711 You will get the edit button after you have completed or reached a post count of 50.
  23. @ Porthos, yes I understand that, thank you, I use a flash drive that is write protected so I don't really have this problem, but it would be a nice feature for the unsuspecting users...
  24. It would be good if MBAM would scan those autorun.inf files before allowing the malware to install any malware from usb and cd drivers.....
