  1. There is a spartan.exe in c:/windows/SystemApps/Spartan_cw5n1h2txyewy/ But double clicking on it does nothing, so I suspect that just adding Spartan.exe to MBAE mightn't work I think Spartan is a Windows App (ex Metro/Modern/Store app), like the Internet Explorer app in Windows 8; or some strange hybrid.
  2. Build 10049 of Windows 10 introduced Spartan browser, which is a Windows app. MBAE free doesn't protect this browser yet. Two questions: Will MBAE free eventually protect Spartan? How do we protect Spartan now with MBAE Pro? Thanks
  3. Well, after doing a Refresh of Windows 10 10049 x 32 and confirming that it was working normally after a full day of normal use, I reinstalled MBAE and everything is still working normally (except for the known glitches in Windows 10!). So what went wrong? I don't know as I can't replicate it. Something appears to have severely corrupted Windows 10 around the time that I installed MBAE, but it most likely was something other than MBAE that caused it.
  4. Just to clarify this, it was not the Startup apps that were failing. The "Windows apps" I refer to are what used to be called "Metro" or "Modern" apps (Microsoft is now calling them "Windows apps"). Apps such as Weather, News etc were disappearing during startup.
  5. Correction I reimaged Windows 10 build 10049 to a couple of weeks ago then realised that the earlier version of MBAE had not been installed on that build, so MBAE 1.06.1.1018 was in fact a clean install. I will run it for a few days without MBAE and see if these issues occur.
  6. Event logs sent. I need to do more work on these issues as the MBAE installation may be coincidental.
  7. Sorry I missed the beta testing of this version, I didn't know it was on. Windows 10 Build 10049, Defender Installed MBAE 1.06.1.1018 over the earlier release version of MBAE [see correction in later post], then serious problems occurred with Windows 10 on subsequent startups: - Windows Apps disappearing during app startup - Sudden spontaneous system restarts soon after login Managed to remove MBAE and the spontaneous restarts have stopped but one app still disappears on startup. I haven't made any other changes recently. mbae.zip
  8. No need to apologise, thanks for your input.
  9. Yes I should have said "Premium". The problem is that if I remove MBAE, whatever version I reinstall it will pick up the previous Pro registration. I need the equivalent of "MBAM Clean" for MBAE. I can wait for a response from Pedro as it isn't urgent.
  10. Thanks DaleDoc. I am using Pro on 3 PCs - I have it activated on a laptop and netbook as well as this desktop I am replacing. So I need to remove MBAE also the licensing otherwise when I reinstall it the Pro license will activate.
  11. I want to transfer my MBAE Pro licence to a new computer, but then I want to continue to use MBAE free version on the old computer. How do I remove the MBAE Pro registration details from the old computer before reinstalling MBAE free?
  12. Malwarebytes 2.0.4.1028 on Windows 8.1 with screen resolution of 1366 x 768 When viewing a log, the buttons at the bottom are obscured by the task bar. Only way to access then is to set task bar to auto hide.
  13. Having used the Shields tab for a while and added many shields, I have the following suggestions for improvements down the track: 1. For each custom shield, display the profile used as well. I often try using different profiles and currently have to write down the profile elsewhere so I know what I have used. 2. Make the profile of a custom shield editable so it is easy to change To change the profile on a custom shield currently I have to remove it then add it again 3. When adding a new custom shield, check that the exe file for a custom profile actually exists before accepting the new shield I found a custom shield I had added with an error in the file extension referenced a non-existent file - thunderbird.xe
  14. No problems so far adding it with pdfreader profile
  15. (I had posted this before but it hasn't appeared) I have two questions: 1. Are Store Apps just as vulnerable as exe files wrt Exploits, or are they more protected by a container of some type? 2. MBAE default shields includes "Internet Explorer" I think that many using Windows 8 would assume that this would include the Store app version of Internet Explorer as well, but it seems to me that the STore app version would not be shielded unless the WWAHost.exe" shield was added, and that can't be done on the free version of MBAE. (This isn't an issue with Windows 10TP9879 because the Store app version of IE doesn't exist, only the Desktop version)
  16. (I am not receiving many notifications on the forum since you moved it to the other provider, I just noticed your response manually checking.) CutePDF Writer is installed as a Printer device. When I want to use it to create a PDF file I select the CutePDF printer then print. Watching processes during this I see a process CPWSave.exe (CutePDF) executes twice - once when it is doing the conversion internally, then again when it asks for the location and file name of the saved PDF. So I guess if I add CPWSave.exe as a shield that is it?
  17. Thanks Kent I have added that shield in Windows 10TP9879.
  18. Can CutePDF writer be shielded? There is no exe file as such, just a printer device.
  19. How does MBAE operate with Windows store apps? Is there any way to add shields?
  20. After adding a Shied in 1.05.3.1012, the next time the Add Shield window opens the last information entered is not cleared. Requires a restart to clear it. I don't know if this also happened in previous versions. Suggest that the info is cleared on successful addition
  21. Aha, I found another icon that does the same thing - OneDrive. So this is definitely a Windows 10 issue
  22. Just as well I said "appears" to be fixed. The issue has now returned with build 9879.
