@ noknojon Oh, I don't check every hour for AV - just when I boot up (and later on in the day, say several hours later or more), if I use the computer again, and MBAM if I am on longer than an hour, not every hour though. Sorry for the confusion. Mbam twice a week... well if you have a slow internet connection than twice a week is probably okay, but you should update it once a day at minimum. If you only use the free version though, you really only need to update before you plan to scan, as the free version doesn't offer realtime protection. Also, please in the future when replying erase what the person you are replying to said. Thanks

K. was it heuristics.malware by any chance? Post your new logs in the thread that you started in HJT - that would be helpful for whomever will be helping you. paste them into the same post, if possible. Let me know if you need help locating the logs after removal of items. -

Quick Time error message
mountaintree16 replied to mountaintree16's topic in General Windows PC Help
@ catscomputer Thanks @ Exile Well, this came up mid-installation :/ I don't think we even really use QuickTime, but I dunno, so I left it be. I see it in my add-ons on FF though, and it looks like the most up-to-date version, so I guess I am good to go. Thanks -

I was just updating my QuickTime/ITunes, after I got a pop up asking me to update. I closed out of that and manually checked for an update, and the attached appeared. Itunes and QuickTime are still claiming that they are installing/updating, but I dont see how after that error message. Edit: They apparently just finished and I need to restart. Does this mean I need to uninstall and re-install QuickTime? :/

@ swagger Thanks Mm yeah. I ended up installing BOTH versions of flash on the system that I am working on, but I only have the version for FF on my machine, since I hardly ever use IE, hehe.

@ Exile Thanks! I'll do that too. Should I run it after attempting to remove Comodo, not before? -

Did you update and rescan after wards to see if they were successfully removed? Or rather, are you going to? I think we should stop talking about this in here soon, though. Someone should be along to assist you in the HJT forum as soon as they are available. Yes, its a good idea to keep it off the internet until this is resolved, except when you are working on the problem, of course. oh, and, FP = False Positive, sorry, I should have stated that -
@ mkruzel That is a good suggestion, but like others have said, there are several other easy-to-use tools that will get the job done well. Have you used ATF Cleaner or CC cleaner? I use ATF cleaner almost every time I use my computer, usually right before I am done with it for the day (and usually before any MBAM scan too). It's a great little tool, and a very small size to download and keep on your computer I have not tried CC cleaner yet, but I definitely plan to. ATF cleaner may be downloaded Here Information about it: http://www.atribune.org/index.php?option=c...5&Itemid=25

@ YoKenny1 Hmm that's an interesting thought. May I ask how you came up with it? I never have thought of the two as similar at all before.

@ mikeyfiddler I'm glad that this product has served you well You should consider purchasing the PRO version. It can help prevent things like this from infecting your computer in the first place

That was more likely than not a good call, however, it is a good idea to keep items there for at least a couple days, just in case there was a FP. I doubt that there was a false positive in your case though. -

wait, were they restored from quarantine or REMOVED? Alright. Its best to run a quick scan first though, and then a full scan if you wish have a good nights rest. -

@ TheSentinel It's a great program, isn't it? I'm so happy I found it. Good luck in the HJT forum, hopefully nothing too major is going on. -

You're all set then. What is your database number? (can be found on the update tab) I'll compare it with mine - I just updated -

@ TheSentinel Did you update internally or are you looking for a standalone update file? I can give you the link for the latter, if you need it -

mountaintree16 replied to mountaintree16's topic in General Windows PC Help
@ calintexas Thank you I'll try poking around and seeing that, anyway, but unfortunately its too late now to actually try and uninstall the program and install the other things I wanted to try. I'll be able to get back to this in a week, more likely two. :/ Edit: I didn't have a chance to do this, but I'll look next time when I bring the installer with me. -

Interestingly enough, I can now open up my flash drive. It installed a driver, and I was able to pull the setups off that I needed
