  1. Okay, I just wanted to make sure because if you were NOT on an administrator account, then you are not always able to install and uninstall programs. Is there any other information that you haven't given me yet as to whats happening here and any other changes you may have made to your system? I'm going to do a little research and get back to you...
  2. Here's a good reference as to what an administrator account is: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows...strator-account Also, go to your control panel, click on user accounts and tell me what type of account it says the account is that you are using right now to try and uninstall AVG with.
  3. Are you trying to uninstall/install the AVG on an administrator account?
  4. cpaesq, Sort of. Here is some more information on the Hosts file: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hosts_file Under other uses, see "Internet resources blocking" This is what the HostsMan hosts file manager does, blocks baddie websites and the like. Sure, if you want to use a virtual machine for surfing, that's a good idea. I don't know much about virtual machines at all but if you do and you are comfortable going that route, by all means do so Is your McAfee free or paid? Reason I am asking is because I don't really recommend McAfee, so if you have a free version, I have some other ideas for you
  5. What is the exact product name that you are using? Free or paid? Is the new version you are trying to install free or paid? What is your operating system (XP, Vista, 7) Are there any other details of what is going on that you haven't told me yet?
  6. Hmm. Have you made any other recent changes or modifications to your machine and/or have you been recently infected? When did you first start noticing issues with your AVG?
  7. hehe sorry, you replied at the same time I did Download the AVG removal tool. Allow it to run, and then restart your computer. Edit: Only remove that registry key if you are comfortable messing around with the registry!!!
  8. Okay. Before we go forward with something I want you to try, do you know if you are running 32 bit or 64 bit? Also, please use the ADD REPLY button when replying, Thanks
  9. Also, do you have a 32 or 64 bit computer?
  10. Seems like something may have gotten corrupted. How long has this been happening? Try restarting your computer, then using an Administrator account, go to add/remove programs and try to uninstall AVG. Let me know what happens.
  11. hehe glad you got it solved, at any rate
  12. Wow, so you totally re-did your system? hehe. Glad the problem is fixed though, and I am sorry I wasn't of more help

  16. The only key you should be using is either one that you purchased or one that was purchased and given to you as a gift and you are the ONLY user of it As for making the Mbam program a virus, no of course not, but a keygen to register Mbam will rightly be detected and identified as something like this by Malwarebytes: DO.NOT.STEAL.OUR.SOFTWARE
  17. Please use the ADD REPLY button at the bottom of the page when replying Using a free key from WHERE, a keygen or something? Either way, that is ILLEGAL, not to mention ethically wrong. I sure hope you aren't doing that. Not to mention keygens, cracks, etc... themselves more often than not contain malware....
  18. Let me clarify; I meant to say that the actual HOSTS file blocks the baddie websites & advertisements; NOT HostsMan itself.
  19. askankman, I use Speccy to check system specs & it also will tell what temperature your machine is at. I don't think it constantly monitors it though. (Unless you leave it open, of course). www.piriform.com/speccy
  20. Chimpy, Sorry to get back to you so late! Did you try looking in their forums to see if anyone else had a similar experience as you?
  21. Hello NelliO, Are you running a full or quick scan?
  22. Thank you for your purchase Excellent choice! Okay, well in the paid version coming up (its in beta testing currently) you have the option to turn off website blocking without making registry changes, and if you don't want to turn off IP blocking but want a silent block (no bubble popping up to alert you when a site has been blocked) there is an option for that as well from within the program, without having to make registry changes.
