NO, Malwarebytes is not an antivirus program, it is designed to compliment your antivirus program, so leave your antivirus installed. Malwarebytes will catch what your antivirus software fails to catch, and with the PRO version it will help you from getting infected with its Web Blocker technology...

Hello Oldviking,

Malwarebytes Pro & AVIRA is not good (2x Real time guard ).

Please use Malwarebytes Free & AVIRA.

This is inaccurate. Our real-time protection is to supplement anti-virus real-time protection. If one safety net is to fail we are there to catch the user.

Hello Excellent,

Is Malwarebytes Pro capable of acting as the only antivirus program on my computer? I run Avira Free Edition right now, and I'm satisfied with it, but just curious if Mbam is suitable for the same job.

We supplement anti-virus software to add an additional layer of protection. Avira FREE and MBAM PRO is a great combination to safe-guard your system.

Thank you very much for the questions.

I use MWB exclusively, alongside Windows 7 OS firewall.

Hello dazedknight and :welcome:

FYI, Malwarebytes is not a replacement for your antivirus program, it is designed to work along side your antivirus program. It is Greatly advised that you install an antivirus program to avoid getting infected.

Just to add to the reply by Firefox, all types of Virus infections are not stopped or removed by Malwarebytes -

Your Firewall is not able to stop or remove all Virus infections also - This applies to your M/soft firewall mostly -

Microsoft only installs a basic firewall which is not even as good as any free 3rd party Firewall -

Thank You -
