Popeye Posted November 13, 2010 ID:344514 Share Posted November 13, 2010 I have used Spyware Doctor (w/o av.) and Registry Mechanic from PC Tools, which I do not use anymore due to conflicts with NIS. Symantic acquired PC Tools, maybe they will get it together soon. Their products are ok when there isn't any conflicts.
DarkSnakeKobra Posted November 13, 2010 ID:344633 Share Posted November 13, 2010 They do use a lot of scam like marketing techniques. Such as malicious sites having links with a fake name that downloads spyware doctor. PC Tools currently doesn't know how to play the security game. Such as malicious sites having links with a fake name that downloads spyware doctor. PC Tools currently doesn't know how to play the security game.I agreee with the above - They place their download tabs in areas that say the wrong thing - If they feel good about their own programs then I think they need to make it more obvious what you are downloading - Too much of "click here to check your system" without saying you are loading PC Tools programs -

DarkSnakeKobra Posted December 6, 2010 ID:357501 Share Posted December 6, 2010 Sounds like Prevx may now be gone. Never tried it, but I do not like all these big companies taking over and changing things. Especially Oracle. Took over Sun and discarded OpenSolaris(open source version of Solaris)and the same fate may be in for OpenOffice.
Ibrad Posted December 6, 2010 ID:357541 Share Posted December 6, 2010 Nope Webroot is now making a big push for Prevx, they actually are now providing funding to allow Prevx to be bought in a box through Amazon. So if they keep on this path it may be a very good time for Prevx.
