constant "malicious IP addresses blocked"

Recommended Posts

I recently had the Anti virus Live malware infection. Research turned me to Malwarebytes and, using the free edition, I was able to restore my computer. I purchased the full edition for my wife's computer and mine to prevent further attack. I however am getting "blocked malicious IP addresses" - most from China about every 5 min. She is getting no messages. I have scanned my computer with Malwarebytes, CA, online scanner Trend micro Housecall, Spybot S/D, rootkit from Sophos but nothing is found. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am only moderately computer literate so be kind.......

Hi Everyone,

This is my first post on this forum.

I purchased this software a few months back and I love it.

There is just one aspect that is driving my crazy.

I am getting an audio alert every time a malicious IP attempts to access my computer.

I'm talking like every 30 seconds.

How can I stop these audio alerts without turning off the protection?

Thanks,

RJay

Hello Rjay,

The MBAM interface doesn't have an option to turn off audio when an IP is blocked. Not one that I know of.

I would suggest you close all browsers, disable any "torrent"-type utilities you may have, then start your MBAM and do an Update run, followed by a Quick scan.

If anything is tagged, then open a new topic in the Malware Removal sub-forum as AdvancedSetup (Ron) has noted in reply above.

I would also suggest you insure your firewall is ON, either a 3rd-party one or Windows firewall.

Certainly, if you are getting a prompt every 30 seconds, after the MBAM run, do the other steps outlined in this note

http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=9573

Then post all reports into your NEW Topic here on the Malware Removal sub-forum; not here.

All the best.

You can but then the sound is turned off for all Windows alerts as well.

Go to Control Panel>>>Sounds and Audio Devices, scroll down to 'System Notification' and then select 'None' from the drop down menu.
