I am a little curious how our family's website got on the 'malicious activity' 'blocked by reputation' list in Malwarebyte's databases in the first place.

Its hard to tell.  We use internal sources as well as external sources.  Any of them could have had a detection at some point in the "recent" past.  It could also be due to another website being hosted from the same IP address.  I checked a few sources which I use and saw no history of any kind.  False positives happen.  They are disconcerting, but they can be easily fixed.  False negatives are a different story.  Sometimes its a balancing act.
