4.1.2.73 Display setting

Recommended Posts

I like the dark theme, but I am not at all thrilled with the backgrounds.

When I selected the dark theme, it automatically selected a background, of which there are only two. Dark blue, or dark blue. (not impressed)

Since I am not able to unselect a background, my suggestion would be to add a third choice for background. Dark. To match the theme .

While I like the function of the product, I hate having to look at it....

Hi,

Thanks for posting in the Malwarebytes for Windows Help forum.

If you are having technical issues with our Windows product, please do the following:

Malwarebytes Support Tool - Advanced Options

This feature is designed for the following reasons:

  • For use when you are on the forums and need to provide logs for assistance
  • For use when you don't need or want to create a ticket with Malwarebytes
  • For use when you want to perform local troubleshooting on your own

How to use the Advanced Options:

Spoiler
  1. Download Malwarebytes Support Tool
  2. Double-click mb-support-X.X.X.XXXX.exe to run the program
    • You may be prompted by User Account Control (UAC) to allow changes to be made to your computer. Click Yes to consent.
  3. Place a checkmark next to Accept License Agreement and click Next
  4. Navigate to the Advanced tab
  5. The Advanced menu page contains four categories:
    • Gather Logs: Collects troubleshooting information from the computer. As part of this process, Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) is run to perform a complete diagnosis. The information is saved to a file on the Desktop named mbst-grab-results.zip and can be added as an email attachment or uploaded to a forum post to assist with troubleshooting the issue at hand.
    • Clean: Performs an automated uninstallation of all Malwarebytes products installed to the computer and prompts to install the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows afterwards. The Premium license key is backed up and reinstated. All user configurations and other data are removed. This process requires a reboot.
    •  Repair System: Includes various system-related repairs in case a Windows service is not functioning correctly that Malwarebytes for Windows is dependent on. It is not recommended to use any Repair System options unless instructed by a Malwarebytes Support agent.
    • Anonymously help the community by providing usage and threat statistics: Unchecking this option will prevent Malwarebytes Support Tool from sending anonymous telemetry data on usage of the program.
  6. To provide logs for review click the Gather Logs button
  7. Upon completion, click OK
  8. A file named mbst-grab-results.zip will be saved to your Desktop
  9. Please attach the file in your next reply.
  10. To uninstall all Malwarebytes Products, click the Clean button.
  11. Click the Yes button to proceed.
  12. Save all your work and click OK when you are ready to reboot.
  13. After the reboot, you will have the option to re-install the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows.
  14. Select Yes to install Malwarebytes.
  15. Malwarebytes for Windows will open once the installation completes successfully.

You mentioned this request in the past.

https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/109639-themes-for-malwarebytes/?do=findComment&comment=1395522

Most, At least the Premium users hardly open Malwarebytes and just let it run in the background.

It took years to get what we have now.

But you suggestion will past on the the developers again.

For the most part, the only time I open mine is to get a screenshot to assist users here on the forum. Everything else is on autopilot.

That's fine. And I'm sure that suits you well, but you can't expect every user to live out their lives by your design.  My request is valid whether you find it agreeable or not.  I'm well within my rights as a long time member and supporter to ask for a minor addition.

There is not anything wrong with the request or that is not a good one. Just saying you and others have made the same request a year ago. Just saying it is most likely not a high priority issue. The request will be passed on again as I said. It took over 10 years to get the options we have now. I like everything in dark mode myself as well so I can understand.

I believe that branding also plays a large role here (the same reason Microsoft does not allow any sort of custom themes which modify the basic look of the Windows shell, START menu, taskbar and other basic elements except for the limited controls provided within the OS and registry by default) since Malwarebytes uses dark blue and other shades of blue throughout their products and websites.  The icon is blue, the UI is blue, the website is blue, and of course the forums are blue.

While I am generally all for customization (I'm the type to mod core system files with a resource hacker/hex editor just to have my own Windows shell look different/the way that I want), I could understand why Malwarebytes would decide not to offer certain options, especially where color is concerned since, as mentioned, that blue is a major component of their branding.  Frankly though, I would not be opposed to them at least offering some additional options just for the sake of more user customization beyond the two we already have (both of which I personally like, but I'm a big fan of blue too) so if they did offer additional backgrounds/options I would be glad to see it and I'd be anxious to try them out.
