ninthclub (dot) com malware infection

Hello, Good day. My Avast installation is detecting (and blocking, thankfully) a malware infection from "ninthclub (dot) com" everytime I start internet explorer or chrome, which are the only two browsers I use.

 

When I run Malwarebytes it does not detect it. Any ideas on how to remove would be appreciated, please. Hopefully you will update the malwarebytes database soon to take care of this specific malware infection.

 

Here are the details from Avast, fwiw:

 

Object: hxxp://ninthclub(dot)com/work/new/index(dot)php

Infection: URL:Mal

Process: c:\Program files...\iexplore.exe     ( <---  or chrome.exe depending on the browser launched)

 

Running Windows 7, 64-bit

IE version 11

Chrome Version 46.0.2490.80 m

Please run the following scans so I can ascertain the state of your computer.
 
STEP 1
GfiJrQ9.png Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (MBAM)

  • Open Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and click Update Now.
  • Once updated, click the Settings tab, followed by Detection and Protection and tick Scan for rootkits.
  • Click the Scan tab, ensure Threat Scan is selected and click Start Scan.
  • Note: You may see the following message, "Could not load DDA driver". Click Yes, allow your PC to reboot and continue afterwards. 
  • If threats are detected, click Remove Selected. If you are prompted to reboot, click Yes.
  • Upon completion of the scan (or after the reboot), click the History tab.
  • Click Application Logs and double-click the Scan Log.
  • Click Copy to Clipboard and paste the log in your next reply. 

 
STEP 2

xlK5Hdb.png Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) Scan

  • Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (x32) or Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (x64) and save the file to your Desktop.
  • Note: Download and run the version compatible with your system (32 or 64-bit). Download both if you're unsure; only one will run.
  • Right-Click FRST.exe or FRST64.exe and select AVOiBNU.jpg Run as administrator to run the programme.
  • Click Yes to the disclaimer.
  • Ensure the Addition.txt box is checked.
  • Click the Scan button and let the programme run.
  • Upon completion, click OK, then OK on the Addition.txt pop up screen.
  • Two logs (FRST.txt & Addition.txt) will now be open on your Desktop. Copy the contents of both logs and paste in your next reply. 
     

STEP 3

  • Please download TDSSKiller and save the file to your Desktop.
  • Right-Click TDSSKiller.exe and select AVOiBNU.jpg Run as administrator to run the programme.
  • Click Change parameters. Place a checkmark next to Detect TDLFS file system and Verify file digital signatures.
  • ​Click Start Scan. Do not use the computer during the scan.
  • If objects are found, change the action to skip.
  • Click Continue and close the window.
  • A log will be created and saved to the root directory (usually C:\). Attach (not copy/paste) the file in your next reply.

In your next reply please include the following logs. Please be sure to copy and paste the requested logs, as well as provide information on any questions I may have asked.

  • MBAM log
  • FRST.txt
  • Addition.txt
  • TDSSKiller log (attached!)

Thanks for your reply. I did not have to follow the steps. Last friday 10/23 Malwarebytes detected "Torja(dot)Bedep(dot)Generic".

I removed it, restarted my machine and the infection warning was gone from my browsers. My machine is clean now. Thanks for the follow-up.

Hello, 

 

Whilst it may appear your computer is now clean, absence of symptoms does not necessarily correlate to absence of malware. I would at the very least consider providing the logs generated from step 2 in my previous post - this will allow me to confirm whether your machine appears clean or not.
