  1. Hi, There is something in my Chrome profile that Malwarebytes is not liking. I am fairly certain that its in my profile since I am getting the same detections even after a fresh install of windows. I have read the Blog about PUP's (https://blog.malwarebytes.com/detections/pup-optional/) But i Can't find any info on this specific PUP.Optional.IbbCo.PN So I am looking for more info about PUP.Optional.IbbCo.PN specifically and what caused it. Thanks for taking the time to read this! 2. A couple of week ago, I noticed that Chrome would randomly switch to using yahoo search when I typed a term in the omnibox. I scanned my computer with Hitman Pro, but didn't find anything other than tracking cookies. So, I scanned it with Malwarebytes, and it found several PUPs. I finished up the scan/quarantine, and when I reopened Chrome, none of the pages opened - they would load indefinitely with the occasional "Page Unresponsive" popup. Chrome only worked if I disabled sandbox, and each time I ran MB, it seemed to quarantine the same group of PUPs. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome but kept running into errors when using the online installer. I had to install the desktop version of Chrome, which appears to be working with sandbox enabled, but I can't set it as my default browser (I don't know if this is Chrome or MB related). MB is still finding the same PUPs when I run it, but I'm hesitant about quarantining them because of the issues I had in the past. I also ran AdwCleaner, which appeared to find another PUP, but I didn't remove it for the same reason. I don't know which log files I should attach. To start, here's the zip file generated by the MB Support tool. mbst-grab-results.zip
  3. Hello. {First of all, I must say I have already posted this on ToolLibs forum area. Forgive me for double posting} On a newly formatted Windows 10 I have copied the AppData\Local\Google folder to keep older Chrome's settings. After analysing it with AdwCleaner (8.0.5) it reports five unwanted Chrome extensions. I choose to clean them (quarantine) but after rebooting and rerunning AdwCleaner they are coming back. This is the clean logfile. It says FAILED. But why?. Chrome isn't even installed (I am going to use Firefox). # ------------------------------- # Malwarebytes AdwCleaner 8.0.5.0 # ------------------------------- # Build: 05-25-2020 # Database: 2020-05-19.1 (Local) # Support: https://www.malwarebytes.com/support # # ------------------------------- # Mode: Clean # ------------------------------- # Start: 05-29-2020 # Duration: 00:00:02 # OS: Windows 10 Home # Cleaned: 0 # Failed: 5 ***** [ Services ] ***** No malicious services cleaned. ***** [ Folders ] ***** No malicious folders cleaned. ***** [ Files ] ***** No malicious files cleaned. ***** [ DLL ] ***** No malicious DLLs cleaned. ***** [ WMI ] ***** No malicious WMI cleaned. ***** [ Shortcuts ] ***** No malicious shortcuts cleaned. ***** [ Tasks ] ***** No malicious tasks cleaned. ***** [ Registry ] ***** No malicious registry entries cleaned. ***** [ Chromium (and derivatives) ] ***** Not Deleted McAfee Security Scan+ - bopakagnckmlgajfccecajhnimjiiedh Not Deleted OnlineMapSearch - fifencjgcochlanolfhaoaalbakbdoof Not Deleted Search Extension by Ask - eocnnoackodjagdbaoddhjbkpjabimed Not Deleted igdhbblpcellaljokkpfhcjlagemhgjl Not Deleted jpmbfleldcgkldadpdinhjjopdfpjfjp ***** [ Chromium URLs ] ***** No malicious Chromium URLs cleaned. ***** [ Firefox (and derivatives) ] ***** No malicious Firefox entries cleaned. ***** [ Firefox URLs ] ***** No malicious Firefox URLs cleaned. ***** [ Hosts File Entries ] ***** No malicious hosts file entries cleaned. ***** [ Preinstalled Software ] ***** No Preinstalled Software cleaned. ************************* [+] Delete Tracing Keys [+] Reset Winsock ************************* AdwCleaner[S00].txt - [1766 octets] - [29/05/2020 17:51:04] ########## EOF - C:\AdwCleaner\Logs\AdwCleaner[C00].txt ##########
  4. I think I clicked on something carelessly yesterday without fully reading the button. I thought I was denying website notifications. But I guess that's not what I did. Ever since then, I've getting the messages from Chrome asking if my Mac is infected. Yes, clearly it is. And there are other questions and suggests as well. Usually there's a reference to shorturl.at. A URL shortening site is where I got it I think. Anyway, I ran Malwarebytes and it tells me there is no virus, but you can see from this screen clip the notifications being pushed onto my my screen from Chrome. It doesn't seem to happen when I use FIrefox. So if go through the trouble of uninstalling Chrome and reinstalling it, will that fix it? If it won't, then what program will? Norton? Because some of those notifications suggest I obtain Norton. I haven't done anything those notifications have suggested, but I still would like to be rid of this problem.
  5. FRST.txtAddition.txt Got a shady email, clicked link. (as seen in screenshot) I believe it messed with my chrome browser, since my account is linked to Google account on pc. Opened Chrome on pc, defender went off. Quarantined. Ran malwarebytes scan, found a few Hacktools. Quarantined and removed. However every time I open Chrome and navigate trojan, windows defender alerts me again. I'm scared to shut down pc, when I use Firefox, no trojan detected. What should I do? Malwarebytes scans + tdsskiller not detecting anything.
  6. currently, I have an adware that wont let me open chrome without reinstalling it that brings up a popup from command prompt that leads me to a website, when I tried to see what the website was, Malwarebytes detected and was able to scan multiple adware files, though this didn't fix the problem, any ideas on what it could be? the message I got from command prompt is shown below Microsoft (R) Visual C# Compiler version 4.8.3761.0 for C# 5 Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. 7. Hello, I recently upgraded to MWB premium and noticed with web protection enabled my preferred Chrome browser (on win 10/64) slows to being unusable. Microsoft Edge seems unaffected. Any ideas?
  8. I have brand new DELL computer. I've been using Google Chrome without a problem. Malwarebytes keeps popping up notification that free update should be installed. After I did it, Google Chrome is running very slow. And when I tried opening a PDF file, it would not open. And I keep getting this error message now (see attachment). I tried Microsoft Edge browser and that is working very quickly. I'm not a technical guy but can someone help me?
  9. Hello, first time posting so please excuse any formatting mistakes. So somehow I got segurazo today, managed to remove most of it thanks to jumping into paranoia mode as soon as i saw something. Managed to remove facemoods and conduit as well which had been bothering me for a long time. All these thanks to adwcleaner 8 and Malwarebytes. Now there is this persistent chrome extension showing up in adwcleaner classified as a PUP.Optional.Legacy but i can't find it anywhere and when i quarantine it, it shows up again every time i launch chrome. Attached is my latest AdwCleaner scan log. It seems to be a chromium derivative but i can't seem to find any traces of chromium left-overs from today's blunder. Thanks in advance for any help. My job is on the line. AdwCleaner[S08].txt

    Browser Guard

Please view Support Ticket 2785602. It's been recommended by a Malwarebytes employee to post in this forum. Three weeks ago the last statement from Malwarebytes employee was " They do know where the problem lies, it's now a matter of finding a way to work with Chrome and how it loads Extensions". Running Chrome 80.0.3987.132 and AOL web on startup with Windows 10, for quite a while there is quite a delay with Chrome opening on restart or boot up using Browser Guard 2.1.9 compared to other ad blockers extensions. Any updates or information will be extremely appreciated! I must state the Support I've received and continue to receive is excellent and like no other.
  11. This is the same issue as seen in the thread https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/255081-loginhelperco/ This is for a user who keeps getting notifications (windows notifications). She does not have any questionable Chrome extensions and she hadn't even had her Chrome open when she got this notif. The parent PID points to Chrome but it must be something else since not everybody gets these kinds of notifications in the org.
  12. Hi I have the free version of Malware Bytes, running on a Windows 8 laptop. I have scanned the PC a couple of times this month and each time I get about 30 optional.PUP messages. I have quarantined all but they keep coming back. TXT file attached. I am assuming they are not a big problem but why do they keep appearing and what can I do to remove them? Many thanks John Pup.txt
  13. Hello, suddenly every time that i launch google chrome, it opens a second tab to ownza.com/featured. I ran a malwarebytes scan and found nothing. Also tried it in safe mode and found nothing. Windows security also couldn't find anything. How do i get rid of this?
  14. I'm testing my website and viewing other pages from a hotel and I'm intermittently getting a website blocked message from Malwarebytes. Any further information on this? 16. I have tried, (seemingly), every method to rid my computer of a browser redirect virus. Chrome's "clean-up" doesnt detect anything, and neither does the malwarebyte scanner. The virus doesnt appear to act like any other i've seen or read about. Google is still the default browser, and is only redirected when i click on a link provided by a google search. In which case, a new window is opened with the link, with the original window turning into a yahoo search result with the original search. Again, i have tried restoring windows, uninstalling chrome completely, scanning with both chrome tools and malwarebytes, but have come to no avail.
  17. I signed in to Chrome on my work computer and started getting that on my home computer as well. I was recently let go and signed out on my work PC, but chrome STILL says it's managed by my organization. How can I get rid of that? I don't want my former employer to be able to add/remove extensions at will.
  18. My MalwareBytes Browser Guard for Chrome keeps crashing and thus getting disabled, and I have to manually re-enable it.
  19. I'm curious about what this is.....after Windows 10 update today, this popped up. Any comments would be appreciated. A scan showed no threats detected.
  20. Malwarebytes tells me through scans that PUP files are present in google chrome, and when quarantined then removed they return quickly. I installed chrome on a new laptop recently and the PUP files are detected on that as well now- so concerned that the issue is with my account. I have attached the most recent scan results on my laptop. Would appreciate any help as is concerning me. RESULTS.txt
  21. Everyday I get a notice regarding "C:\USERS\Named User\APPDATA\LOCAL\GOOGLE\CHROME\USER DATA\Default\Web Data" and that it's been quarantined as a pup I've searched on it, and only found that version 3 was suppose to get along better with Chrome How do I A: stop chrome from making the file? or B: preclude it from scanning
  22. Hi, Is there a way to get rid of PUP.OPTIONAL.DREGOL permanently? Detected on Chrome during all MB scans. Quarantine, deletion and still present but stopped by MB premium. Nothing appears for Edge or Firefox ... Thank you
  23. I'm using MX Linux 18.3, Google Chrome Version 77.0.3865.75, and Browser Guard Version 2.0.2 If I try to open this extension, Google Chrome closes (crashes).
  24. Hi there, I have an infection on my PC from pup.optional.searchmanager. MWB is showing up 3 files in GOOGLE\CHROME\USER DATA\Default\Secure Preferences and 1 registry value in GOOGLE\CHROME\PREFERENCEMACS\Default\extensions.settings I've tried all the methods in this post (sign out / reset sync / reset Chrome / deleting all other search engines in Chrome), but they keep showing back up. I've also tried AdWCleaner. It seems to find / quarantine / delete the files but they always show up again in the next scan. Also, I have another PC synced up to the same Chrome account and it's fine, there's nothing showing up on MWB scan on that one. Files attached. Any help would be appreciated 👍 Shaun Addition.txt FRST.txt MWBScanResult.txt
  25. I've started getting Windows notifications that the site cloud1.pw has been updated in the background on Chrome. Have run adware cleaner and it found 1 registry link for a video downloader I use and something to do with banggood but nothing else. Very disappointed that nothing was picked up by my paid version of malwarebytes but more importantly how do I get rid of it?
