Need help removing adware..

Hi Everone!

 

Long story short my girlfriend has downloaded an adware called "saleplus" and it has been driving me crazy so far..

 

I have a windows 8.1 system with windows security essential as main anti virus and malwarebytes (full license) to deal with other bits.

 

I only use google chrome browser and the adware bug would add an extension to browser causing unwante windows to pop-up.. Every few clicks.. The extension reappears every time I would shut down the computer

 

Now what i have done so far:

1. Deleted all unknown programs from control panel, programs and features.

2. Deleted all unwanted startup programs

3. Got a full license of malwarebytes and ran scans in safe mode and normal mode (nothing found even tho the extension is there..)

4. Used autoruns to delete unwanted registry

5. Went through all user folders (including hidden ones) to see if there is anything there

6. Did these steps many times.. 

 

I was hoping someone on the forum could add to this before I will wipe the system and put new one on.. Willing to try anything

Please download ZOEK by Smeenk and save it to your desktop (preferred version is the *.exe one)
Temporary disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware protection - instructions here.

• Right-click on icon and select Run as Administrator to start the tool.
• Wait patiently until the main console will appear, it may take a minute or two.
• In the main box please paste in the following script:
  

  createsrpoint;autoclean;emptyalltemp;ipconfig /flushdns;b

• Make sure that Scan All Users option is checked.
• Push Run Script and wait patiently. The scan may take a couple of minutes.
• When the scan completes, a zoek-results logfile should open in notepad.
• If a reboot is needed, it will be opened after it. You may also find it at your main drive (usually C:\ drive)

Post its content into your next reply.

Thanks for your help again!! I have disabled the MSE and Malwarebyte. Ran your program and got the results. 

What I noticed is that the PC is booting quicker but this stupid chrome extension is still there however it has reinstalled itself under a different name this time "AdPunisher". Just as previously I have attached the log file.

• Press the Fix button just once and wait.
• If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.

Wow that was very simple! Cant believe its solved now just like that.. Also since chrome was altered so easily I have switched to Mozilla Firefox. So how did you end up with this concusion? I went over the results and from the scans and couldnt see anthing that would point it out.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware - to scan your system from time to time in search for malware.

McShield - to prevent infections spread by removable media.
Unchecky - to prevent from installing additional foistware, implemented in legitimate installations.
Adblock - to surf the web without annoying ads! 
 
 

Post-cleanup procedures:

 

 
Download DelFix by Xplode and save it to your desktop.

• Run the tool by right click on the icon and Run as administrator option.
• Make sure that these ones are checked:
  • Remove disinfection tools
  • Purge system restore
  • Reset system settings
• Push Run.
• The program will run for a few seconds and display a notepad report. You do not need to attach it.

The tool will also record healthy state of registry and make a backup using ERUNT program in %windir%\ERUNT\DelFix
Tool deletes old system restore points and create a fresh system restore point after cleaning.
