For the past two days I've been dealing with this hidden malware which only recently showed up in my program's list as "ScorpionSaver Services." I've tried all I could think of along with anything I could search for, but most things seemed tailor-made for the user who posted the help thread in the first place or just didn't work. I even attempted to just plainly uninstall the program, which doesn't work. The images are the results of just trying to uninstall the program:

Perhaps the malware is already removed and it is just a ghost entry in my programs list. Either way, I'll take the precautions and ask for assistance here. Attached are FRST's FRST and Addition text logs.FRST.txtAddition.txt

Hello,

They call me TwinHeadedEagle around here, and I'll be working with you.

Before we start please read and note the following:

Limit your internet access to posting here, some infections just wait to steal typed-in passwords.
Please be patient. I know it is frustrating when your PC isn't working properly, but malware removal takes time.
Don't run any scripts or tools on your own, unsupervised usage may cause more harm than good.
Do not paste the logs in your posts, attachments make my work easier. There is a Attach Files option below which you can use to attach your reports. Always attach reports from all tools.
Stay with me to the end, the absence of symptoms doesn't mean that your machine is fully operational.
Note that we may live in totally different time zones, what may cause some delays between answers.
Do not ask for help for your business PC. Companies are making revenue via computers, so it is good thing to pay someone to repair it.
If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed.

icon_idea.gif I can't foresee everything, so if anything unexpected happens, please stop and inform me!
icon_idea.gif There are no silly questions. Never be afraid to ask if in doubt!

P2P/Piracy Warning:

  • If you're using Peer 2 Peer software such as uTorrent, BitTorrent or similar you must either fully uninstall them or completely disable them from running while being assisted here.
  • Failure to remove or disable such software will result in your topic being closed and no further assistance being provided.
  • If you have illegal/cracked software, cracks, keygens, etc. on the system, please remove or uninstall them now and read the policy on Piracy.

Hello TwinHeadedEagle, thanks for assisting me with this issue!

I have run the FRST fix with the provided fixlist.txt and have scanned and cleaned using AdwCleaner. I am attaching both the Fixlog from FRST as well as the AdwCleaner log, but please note that along with the AdwCleaner log from this scan I just performed, I am giving you the first log from my first scan that I performed when I found this program, as well.

Very good, we need two more steps:

51a46ae42d560-malwarebytes_anti_malware. Scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Please re-run 51a46ae42d560-malwarebytes_anti_malware. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.

  • First of all, select update.
Once updated, click the Settings tab, in the left panel choose Detctions & protection and tick Scan for rootkits.
Click the Scan tab, choose Threat Scan is checked and click Scan Now.
If threats are detected, click the Apply Actions button. You will now be prompted to reboot. Click Yes.
Upon completion of the scan (or after the reboot), click the History tab.
Click Application Logs and double-click the newest Scan Log.
At the bottom click Export and choose Text file.

Save the file to your desktop and include its content in your next reply.

Next, run FRST again, check Addition.txt, press Scan and attach both fresh reports.

First, go to Control Panel and uninstall following (skip lines that cannot be uninstalled):

- Adobe Reader X

- Java 6 Update 31

- ScorpionSaver Services (try now)

Latest versions of Java and Adobe Reader available here --> http://www.java.com/en/  and here http://get.adobe.com/uk/reader/

Make sure to uncheck optional offers.

Did you set proxy server?

I have uninstalled Adobe Reader X and Java 6 Update 31 (you would assume a later update would have done that for you but I suppose not.) ScorpionSaver Services still could not be uninstalled, and gives the same errors as detailed in the pictures.

My Google Chrome has a proxy set up but it is currently not in use.

Once again we shall use FRST for additional checks. Re-run FRST/FRST64 by double-clicking:

Type {286B09BC-F9BD-4F71-B767-2AE0CE2F8CE5} into the Search: field in FRST then click the Search Registry button.

FRST will search your computer for files and when finished it will produce a log Search.txt in the same directory the tool is run.

Please attach it to your reply.

After trying to uninstall ScorpionSaver Services from the list again, it is finally removed. I can only assume the entire program is gone as well. It seems you have fixed my problem. Thank you very much for your quick responses and help!

One question, however. AdwCleaner seems to have some items in its quarantine from the scans performed earlier. Is there any way to delete those items it has quarantined? I can't seem to find a way.
