Malwarebytes won't run, all Chameleons failed

I wanted to download a GPU temp. program from the internet and I stupidly clicked on the first link someone suggested and opened a confirmation to download the file.  Once again I stupidly didn't read what I was downloading and ended up with a bunch of malware such as Regclean Pro, Image Editor, Systweak system protector, and more.  My AVS, Bitdefender, removed a potentially malicious program but I ended up buying Malwarebytes since most forums indicated that Bitdefender couldn't catch everything.  After paying for premium and running 3 scans Malwarebytes find 30 or so files and I promptly deleted them.  Here's where things get interesting....I went through 4 power surges and after waiting to make sure there wouldn't be more I booted the computer back on and Malwarebytes won't run.  All that happens after double clicking the program is a window asking me to give Malwarebytes permission to make changes to the computer, which I give it, and then nothing happens.  It won't run.  I tried using all 13 Chameleons but they all failed.  Please help!  The FRST.txt and the Addition.TXT are included.

First, go to Control Panel and uninstall following (skip lines that cannot be uninstalled):

Make sure to uncheck optional offers.

Fix with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

This fix was created for this user for use on that particular machine.

Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable.

Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!

• Right-click on icon and select Run as Administrator to start the tool.

  (XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).

• Press the Fix button just once and wait.
• If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
• When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Fix with AdwCleaner

 

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save the file to your desktop.

• Right-click on icon and select Run as Administrator to start the tool.

• Follow the prompts and click Scan.

• When finished, please click Clean.

• Upon completion, click Report. A log (AdwCleaner[s*].txt) will open.

Please include the contents of that file in your reply.

Also, don't know if it helps but I looked back at when BitDefender caught the malicious file before having malwarebytes and this is what it found;

Not sure how to view old logs or I would have just attached the file.  

 

One question though, I know you said limit my internet activity to just using this site for assistance in removing the malware, but can I not use my computer for playing a single player game or something?  Like Fallout:NV or anything?  I have to go through Steam but I don't need to input any information nor do I plan on making ANY purchases on this computer until advised it is safe to do so.  I also plan on bringing in my computer to office depot Saturday for virus removal as extra security to ensure the system is clean.

About detection, it is just a temporary file and we will delete it.

You do not have to worry about Steam. You can play games without problems.

Ran the fix.  Malwarebytes still won't run after running the fix and the adw scanner.

I got Malwarebytes to run again.  After following all the above steps I decided to uninstall Malwarebytes using the program mentioned in other threads and reinstall Malwarebytes. After reinstall Malwarebytes it opened right up and I ran a scan before restarting my computer and after.  I have attached the logs.  I haven't done anything other than play games on cpu and still have re-framed from inputting sensitive information (I.E. SS, Credit card).  What do I need to do now to ensure the computer is clean?

Also, one final question;  What type of malware was I dealing with?  From my research it seems rootkits are some of the worst malware you can get, so much so that some people advise abandoning the computer all together.  So, if you can tell me, what type of malware was I dealing with?  Also, how safe should I feel using this computer for future financial transactions and such?  Any advise is much appreciated.

We have dealt with only a bunch of Adware, nothing too serious. It is perfectly safe to use this computer for future financial transactions.

Recommended additional software:

 

TFC - to clean unneeded temporary files.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware - to scan your system from time to time in search for malware.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Exploit - to prevent plenty of mostly exploited vulnerabilities.

McShield - to prevent infections spread by removable media.

CryptoPrevent - to secure yourself from very severe CryptoLocker infection.

Unchecky - to prevent from installing additional foistware, implemented in legitimate installations.

 

 

• The following will implement some post-cleanup procedures:

 

=> Please download DelFix by Xplode to your Desktop.

 

Run the tool and check the following boxes below;

Remove disinfection tools

Create registry backup

Purge System Restore

Click Run button and wait a few seconds for the programme completes his work.

At this point all the tools we used here should be gone. Tool will create an report for you (C:\DelFix.txt)

 

The tool will also record healthy state of registry and make a backup using ERUNT program in %windir%\ERUNT\DelFix

Tool deletes old system restore points and create a fresh system restore point after cleaning.

Alright, thanks for all the help.  Just one last thing though.

 

I downloaded DelFix and ran the program as asked and bitdefender popped up and told me the following,

 

"The application C:\Users\Drewski\Downloads\delfix_10.7.exe was detected as potentially malicious"  

 

I'm pretty sure this is a false positive.  I have bitdefender on the highest levels of threat detection on all levels so I'm sure it was just being overly careful.

 

Again, thanks for all the help.  Feels good knowing it was just a bunch of adware and not something more serious.
