    I know what you mean - Only my Yahoo email is given (as I can cancel it any time) and I wait till I know a forum or other private group prior to giving any more info - This is generally one of the better forums , so I first like to PM others and find out what is going on - :)

    To me personally F/book is a little over the top (as we have Yahoo Messenger for all our contacts) but I manage the one my wife has set up -

    I delete any obvious silly things and tend to run a quick MBAM or SAS scan after any of the 'long' sessions - :)

    Hi SaferNet4All -

    As mountaintree16 said just 'social networking' - I am not a great fan of these, but if you ever use MSN chat or Yahoo messenger or any of the similar contact systems to message your friends, then you are using a similar (not quite the same) system - :)

    Even if you send emails to people and get replies from them that is also similar - It is another form of person to person contact over the internet -

    You have posted on a forum that asked you to disclose some information to register, so now they have some (minimal) record of you - :)

    Could you please add a progress bar?

    Well , we all know a quick scan (the usual type) takes 5-7 mins - End of scan - What more can you want ??

    Even the Spybot bar hesitates and hangs at times - It is not a timer - I know of NO accurate scan time bar - Even my Avira bar gets to 99.8% and then hangs for the next few mins -

    As said by TeMerc !!!!! - Never - And by me why ???

    Hi - Since I had my startup altered/fixed I now have developed a new odd "problem" -

    I turn the computer off normally (Start > Turn off > Turn off) and wait until I get "No signal" and turn off screen also - Then at nights I turn the computer and modem off at the wall - (Multi switch adapter for all items) -

    Now all I do is turn the wall switch back on and the computer starts automatically - The screen is still off, and the modem starts to power up (normal) - I do not press start or any other switches - :)

    PatchRegCleanup-x86.exe I found this patch, but it says I must register it??? when I try I get black screen telling to registor product.... how do i do this... I tried to type in PatchRegCleanup-x86.exe, but the screen closed... I have Vista Premium Home Edition 32 bit... The reason I am trying to download this is it is I cannot install any of my windows updates. Can you please Help me? Thanks- Terry

    Hi 2bconfused -

    If you don't want to follow prairie dog then try to reset to IE 6 or IE 7 at best - You may have IE 8 installed and your XP 2 may have uploaded as an automatic update - :)

    Check in Control panel, Add/Remove, Reboot, and then try any basic download - Some XP problems have been known to show up in IE 8 -

    These include failing to install and failing to run some programs - Or use this Norton removal tool -

    If this is not an option use prarie dog's ideas and get an expert just to check it -

    MSE freezing when computer is booted

    I have notice it only seems to only happen if MSE has not been updated for around 24hrs and there is no internet access when system is booted. Which explaines why it is mainly happening on laptops.

    It will go back to green after you update (Icon in task bar) or on screen (Blue) - Mine went Yellow (on line) and a quick scan updated and changed back to green -

    They are just informing you it is time to update - It still works at the settings you apply -

    Add Remove / Microsoft Security Essentials if you want to opt out - Or MSE/settings and 'disable' Real Time protection then just manual update next time on line -

    Mine has picked up 2 items so far -

    Some on the forum (with MBAM real time) have set it for manual scans only - In case there is a conflict -

    Exile360 can give the exclusions/inclusions to run both together -

    Since we fixed the .NET Framework problem the start up has changed - I now get a logon screen which asks for users name and will not continue to full normal screen until the user has entered a name -

    This may have been caused by a brief power outage while working on .NET Uninstaller or the entry process may have been corrupted by the work or the power outage - I just turned on and the user was filled into the login box but it would not go further until OK or somilar was clicked -

    AdvancedSetup refered to a tool but the script to enter into command box was a bit unclear (spaces etc) -

    Welllll - :) - Don't ask me how , but I think that somehow that power glitch has set "most" things RIGHT - :)

    After the failure (about a 5 second outage) things started to install one at a time - Each item needed a reboot after install (some were still D/loaded) -

    Now I can start a thread about how can I get this thing to start normally again - She will kill me tomorrow when I need to get her to type her name each time we log on - The normal "Automatic" open direct to desktop no longer exists - We never set a password (lucky I would have forgotten by now) just her name as user -

    Very good idea - But we hardly ever have 'regular' outages - Just one of those things -

    @ exile360 -

    Not sure if I am game to do a sys restore now that it has worked - :) Everything else is normal once you get to the screen -

    Going to bed and will consider the options in the morning - If you think the files I have just loaded will stay I will do a sys restore to early today -

    I want to keep any 'playing' to a minimum but I may need something -

    If you want to leave any ideas I can try them / or leave it ???
