  1. Hi:

As your post suggests that this is a Business/Corporate/Retail or Enterprise environment, the best bet will probably be to contact the Business support folks. (It's actually a violation of the EULA to use the Consumer version of MBAM (Free or Premium) in a Business/Corporate environment.)

There is dedicated help in the Business forum >>here<< or at the Business Help Desk >>here<<.

They will be able to assist you, both with malware diagnosis/removal and with sorting out the proper licensing arrangements. :)

    Thanks again,

  2. Sort of.

It's not a question of running "at the same time" in the literal sense.

It's a question of being activated on 2 computers.

If computer 1 phones home for updates, the servers will "see" that license.

If computer 2 phones home for updates -- whether literally at the same time or not -- the servers will "see" that license on a different computer.

They could detect that the license is in use/activated on more than one computer.

That could lead to blacklisting of the license.

If computer 1's hard drive is permanently damaged and could not ever be used again, then it should be OK to use the license on computer 2.

If computer 1 were ever "resuscitated" to the point that MBAM Premium were up and running again, then it would appear to the servers that the license would be in use on 2 different computers.

    Hope this helps,

  3. Hi:

A Trial version is enabled by default during a new install or upgrade, UNLESS EITHER 1) the user opts-out by removing the tick-mark from the option during the installation wizard, OR 2) a Trial version has been previously installed on this same computer.

The Trial version includes all features of the Premium version for 14-days, including Automated Scheduling.

So, if one of your two computers is showing these options and the other Advanced Settings are enabled, and if you have not activated the program with a paid license ID/key, then that computer most likely is running the Trial version.

This can be confirmed by looking at the ribbon at the very top of the GUI/dashboard, where it will say "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (Trial) 2.0.3.1025".

If you wish to revert to the Free version on that computer, you can do any of the following:

    1. Wait for the trial to expire, at which time the program will revert to Free; or
    2. Click the "End Free Trial" link in the dashboard (see screen cap below); or
    3. Click the "End Trial" button in the notification popup (see screen cap below); or
    4. Cleanly reinstall, making sure to decline an option for a Trial version, if it is offered during the installation.

    Thanks,

  4. Hello and welcome:

IIRC That particular error has  been hard to track down.

It is typically resolved by a clean reinstall of the program.

So, in order to get to a known, "clean" starting point for troubleshooting, I suggest the following:

    • Please follow the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x
    • If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and post back attached to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt)
    • NOTE: There is an FAQ section with valuable information located here - Common Questions, Issues, and their Solutions

Please let us know how it goes.

    Thanks,

  5. Hi:

That is correct, Advanced Settings are available only to users with Premium or Trial versions.

If you are only sing MBAM Free, I don't think that it can slow your torrents.
MBAM Free is only a manual, on-demand scanner.
    There is no real-time protection.
So it would not be able to interfere with the torrents process in real-time.

If you would like the staff and experts to have a peek at what's going on with your system, please read the following and post back attached to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt)

    Thanks,

  6. Hello and welcome:

I don't personally use torrents or other P2P software, but I'm not sure MBAM would necessarily "slow" the process.

MBAM *might* generate IP block notifications.

This is normal, as explained here: Why does Malwarebytes Anti-Malware block BitTorrent or other Peer-to-Peer Programs?

You might want to set a WEB EXCLUSION for the torrent PROCESS, as explained in the User Guide here:

Clicking the Add Process button allows you to exclude a process which would otherwise be blocked from accessing an internet address. Please note that this option is only functional on Windows Vista Service Pack 2, Windows 7, and Windows 8.x. This is typically of value to users who need to access filesharing and/or peer-to-peer applications. On occasion, IP addresses used by these applications may be blacklisted, so that Malwarebytes Website Protection blocks access to the website as a whole. Excluding the IP address makes the user more vulnerable, as would exclusion of the domain (if the website uses a domain name). Excluding the process — providing that the process is not an internet browser — would allow the P2P application to function without increasing risk.

and here: How do I stop Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from blocking a website or network program that I trust?

    Thanks,

  7. If your instructions are for me, I have an icon there now. I told you how it got there in my previous reply.

Yes, the advice was for you: :)

    Hello and :welcome:, Emmar:

So, just to be sure I understand:

    Is your issue resolved?

If it is not, then I would suggest that you please follow the troubleshooting suggestions provided in the my previous reply.

    Thanks again,

  8. Hello, @kratos:

If your license is a 1-PC, lifetime license and it is only activated and working on 1 PC, you should be fine. (If the old hard drive gets fixed, and you activate a 1-PC license on 2 different machines, the license could end up being blacklisted.)

If your license is a 3-PC, subscription license and it is only activated and working on no more than 3 PCs in the household, you should be fine.

    Thanks,

  9. Hello and :welcome: , Emmar:

This is a truly ancient topic -- based on a similarly ancient version of MBAM. :(

Anything discussed then is unlikely to work now, so long after the original post.
So, the mod team may split off your post to a new, separate topic.

In the interim, let's try this:

    • Please follow the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x
    • If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and post back attached to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt)
    • NOTE: There is an FAQ section with valuable information located here - Common Questions, Issues, and their Solutions

Please let us know how it goes.

We can't work on malware diagnostics and removal in this sub-section of the forum.

So, for expert assistance, I suggest that you please follow the advice in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.
It explains the options for free, expert help >>AND<< the preliminary steps to expedite the process.
A malware analyst will guide you through the cleanup process.

  11. Hi:

Yes, you can transfer an MBAM Consumer license from one computer in the household to another computer in the same household.

On the "old" PC, open the dashboard > "My Account" > Deactivate.
That will convert MBAM 2.x Premium on that computer to the Free version.
(Or you can fully uninstall from the "old" computer, if you plan to discard it...)

Then, once you have installed MBAM on the "new" computer, you just need to "Activate" it using the same license ID/key.

If you no longer have the confirmation email with the license ID/Key sent at the time of purchase, you can contact the e-commerce partner, cleverbridge.

They will look it up for you.

Their contact info is here: https://helpdesk.malwarebytes.org/hc/en-us/articles/201956473-How-do-I-obtain-my-license-key-or-confirmation-email-

For a 1-PC, lifetime Consumer license, such a license can be activated on only 1 PC at a time.

(For one of the new, subscription Consumer licenses, you can activate on up to 3 PCs in the household at one time, but the transfer process is the same.)

    Thanks,

    BTW:

The support links are not working hence this post in the forum.

Can you please tell us which "support links" you are referring to?

That way, we can ask the appropriate MBAM Team to investigate....

    Thanks,

  14. I had a number of trojans and other nasties make it onto the PC but booted in safe mode & removed all. (Windows 7 SP1)

It's possible there are still malware remnants and/or damage from the infection.

  15. Hello and :welcome: :

A couple of easy things to check:
    >>First, please be sure your system date/time are correct.
    >>Then, please be sure that your AV and firewall both give MBAM full permissions. It's possible that your AV or firewall might be treating the new build as a new program and may be blocking it -- the files that need to be excluded can be found HERE (just the one reply, not the entire thread). Please post back if you need help with that.
    >>Also, please check to be sure there are no "Detected Threats" that need to be dealt with first, as this can prevent the program from updating: Click the "Scan" button at the top of the dashboard and verify that there are no detected threats (especially PUPs or PUMs) awaiting your actions.

If those suggestions don't resolve your issue:

    • Please follow the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x
    • If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and post back attached to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt)

  16. Sorry, I am just a home user trying to help.

Did you have a chance to read any of the posts by the product manager for which I provided the links in the earlier reply?

    For example:

As for the Dashboard, it is unlikely that we will change this behavior as I have never seen any security product which allowed the user to disable any core component of protection without continuing to indicate that there was a problem. For example, if I turn off the web filter or virus protection in my antivirus, its UI and tray continue to display warning indicators for as long as either of those components is turned off. This is for several reasons, not the least of which is that a user might disable one component temporarily and then forget that they turned it off and continue to use their PC believing that they are fully protected when in fact they are not.

    And here:

We will provide a way to disable the notification from the tray though, so you won't have to deal with the pop-up any more when we re-work all of our notification settings to make them all granular as I said earlier.

If you have product suggestions, there's a dedicated forum area for that sort of thing here: https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/forum/12-malwarebytes-anti-malware/

EDIT: ALSO, if your company is looking to purchase the Business version of the program, it may offer features and options that are not available in the Consumer version for home users.

If you have questions about the Business version, there is a special area of the forum >>here<< and there is a dedicated Business help desk >>here<<.

They can better answer your specific questions about the Business version of the software. :)

    Cheers,

  17. Hello and :welcome: :

Unfortunately, under the current build (2.0.3) you cannot disable that specific notification.

Notifications are currently "all or none" (enabled or disabled).

And, since Malicious Website protection is one of the key, critical components of MBAM Premium's real-time protection, AFAIK there are no plans to change the behavior of notifying the user when it is disabled.

For more information, please see these very recent posts by the MBAM Program manager, exile360:

    https://forums.malwa...on/#entry813524

    https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/159791-get-rid-of-website-blocked-popup/#entry898056

Having said that, there are plans to enable more granular user control of certain notifications with a future version.

    Thank you,
