  1. Hello and :welcome: :

Alas, I don't know that we'll be able to help with the Genealogy software or a Windows problem, but let's see if we can start with some routine troubleshooting for MBAM:

    1. Please carefully follow the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x
    2. If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and post back attached to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt)
    3. NOTE: There is an FAQ section with valuable information located here - Common Questions, Issues, and their Solutions

Please let us know how it goes.

    Thanks,

  2. Hi;

Until AdvancedSetup returns, let's get a fresh set of some basic system logs, please.

Please read the following and post back attached to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt)

NOTE: As you have probably run FRST on this system before, please place a check mark in the "Addition.txt" option before you run it again.

Then, please post back with ALL 3 logs attached to your next reply here in this thread.

We may need to see more detailed information, such as crash dumps, but those 3 logs will be a good starting point.

    Thanks,

  3. Hi:

It's impossible to say without more information, but it sounds as if something may have gone amiss with the program update.

Let's pleas start with the following routine troubleshooting:

    • Please carefully follow the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x
    • If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and post back attached to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt)
    • NOTE: There is an FAQ section with valuable information located here - Common Questions, Issues, and their Solutions

Please let us know how it goes.

    Thanks,

  4. There's no need to switch off MBAM to run FRST.

(If you do run it again, please be sure to place a check-mark in the "Addition.txt" option before you run it.)

Please also run the mbam-check tool and post back with the CheckResults.txt log.

Then we'll need to wait for AdvancedSetup or a forum expert to review them and advise you.

I do recall a small handful of similar cases, but none recently.

And I don't recall what -- if any -- solution was used.

(Your logs do show some entries suspicious for PUPs or other unwelcome entries. So we may need to send you over to another forum area for a deeper look at the system to exclude the possibility of malware.)

    Thanks,

  5. Hello and :welcome: :

There is a special area of the forum reserved for such possible malware submissions.

If you have samples of possible malware to be reviewed for inclusion in the MBAM database I suggest the following:

The Malwarebytes Research Team will analyze the files to determine if they are appropriate for inclusion in the malware database.

    Thanks very much,

  6. Hello and :welcome: :

You might wish to try a clean reinstall, as explained in this pinned topic: MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x

OTOH, we can't work on malware diagnostics and removal or other security issues in this sub-section of the forum.

So, if you think you have been infected, I suggest that you please follow the advice in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.
It explains the options for free, expert help >>AND<< the preliminary steps to expedite the process.
A malware analyst will assist you with looking into your issue.

    Thanks,

  7. Tnx a lot 4 swift reaction.

The system reboot dit indeed resolve the issue.

Now I can scan only the files or directories of my own choice.

    Great!

I'm glad that is working properly now.

It would be also great to see the name [or names]  of scanned files [or directories] in the history log

after involving the scan from the context menu.

Yes, many users have asked for this.

The developers have mentioned that more detailed logging will be added to a future version.

    Thanks again,

  8. Hello and :welcome: :

2.0.2.1012 is not the most current program version.

The most current build is 2.0.3.1025 -- it contains many bug and stability fixes.

Also, version 2.0.2.1012 does not provide users with the ability to control or postpone PROGRAM updates separately from DATABASE updates.

That is why you are being reminded that there is a new PROGRAM version available.

There is no way to disable that notification in version 2.0.2.1012.

So, it is highly recommended that you permit the program to auto-update to version 2.0.3.1025.

Alternatively, you can do either of the following, as well:

    • Manually download the current version of the 2.0.3.1025 installer file from here, save it to your desktop and then run it on top of your existing version;
    • OR, perform a clean upgrade/reinstall, by following the steps here: MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x

Once you upgrade to version 2.0.3.1025, you can disable the option to check for program updates when MBAM checks for database updates (see screen shot).

    Thanks,

  10. Hello and :welcome: :

Context menu scanning is disabled by default in version 2.

Please check your settings: Dashboard > Settings > General Settings > Explorer Context Menu Entry > change to "YES".

If those suggestions and a system reboot don't resolve your issue:

    • Please follow the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x

  11. Hello and welcome:

The license ID and key will be in an email sent by cleverbridge (the e-commerce partner) at the time of purchase.

If you no longer have the email or a copy of it, these helpful topics with videos explain the steps to obtain the info and then to reinstall and activate:

How do I obtain my license key or confirmation email?

How do I install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware?
How do I activate Malwarebytes Anti-Malware?

    ALSO, for additional information:
There is an FAQ Section here: Common Questions, Issues, and their Solutions
And here are links to the MBAM 2.0 User Guide: Online and PDF
And there are many useful KB topics and videos at the helpdesk support page

Please post back and let us know if you need more help,

  12. @dezign2:

It sounds as if you might be confusing DATABASE updates with PROGRAM updates?

    You mentioned:

I keep getting prompts that my malwarebytes is outdated

If you could please tell us the exact message wording and/or post a screen shot of the notification, we could help to better sort out the behavior you describe.

As @Firefox mentioned, the DATABASE is updated 10 or more times a day (and can be scheduled to do so automatically under the Trial or Premium version).
PROGRAM updates are much less frequent, only a couple of times a year.

If you're still not sure what's happening, it would help us to see a bit of system info.
Please read the following and post back attached to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt)

    Thanks,

  13. Hi:

    • Follow the steps below to post the relevant SCAN LOG as an attachment to your next reply in this thread,
    • AND follow the steps in this pinned topic to produce 3 logs and post all of them as attachments to your next reply here, too: Diagnostic Logs (there will be 3 diagnostic logs: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and Checkresults.txt)

We would be better able to help you if we could see the other requested logs, as well.

However most of the items in that scan log are PUPs -- there is more information about them here: What are the 'PUP' detections, are they threats, and should they be deleted?

It is generally safe to remove whatever MBAM has quarantined.

    Having said that,
some PUPs can be rather stubborn to fully remove.
And, if you are not sure what to remove/quarantine and what to keep/ignore/restore, then it might be best to get some expert help.

We can't work on malware diagnostics and removal in this sub-section of the forum.

So, for expert assistance, I suggest that you please follow the advice in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.
It explains the options for free, expert help >>AND<< the preliminary steps to expedite the process.
A malware expert will assist you in the other area of the forum with scanning and cleaning your system.

    Thanks,

  14. Thanks for that.

In order to better assist you, though, we need to see all 3 logs from one computer at a time, please.
Please post back with the other 2 logs when you are ready - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt)

Also, as you mention multiple different systems with the same problem, do they all have something in common (e.g. a router, a software firewall, or another security application)?

    Thanks,

  15. Hi:

For only ONE of the affected systems at a time (to minimize confusion), routine troubleshooting starts with the following:

    • Please follow the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x
    • If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and post back attached to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt)

OTOH, as your post suggests that you might be a professional computer tech or repair expert, your MBAM Business license entitles you to free, expert help from the Business Help Desk. :)

You may wish to open a ticket with them here: Contact Business Support

Especially if there are so many computers affected -- perhaps in a Business or Enterprise or Retail or Educational setting? -- that is probably the most efficient way to sort things out.

    Thanks again,

  16. Once again, the 2 most likely explanations are a software conflict (either with Norton or some other program), or something amiss on your system.

(There are no other reports from other users about this issue, especially on a new, Win7 system.)

There's no harm in setting the exclusions.

(I'm sorry, but I mistakenly assumed that, as an Honorary Member with so many previous problems with your XP system, that you already had done that before you even reported this issue).

Then, please wait for AdvancedSetup or another staffer to formally review the logs and to make additional recommendations.

    Thanks,

  17. Hello and welcome:

Assuming the computer is not infected and assuming a reboot does not resolve the issue, a common scenario is a Killer Network Card e2200.
If it's the latter, please disable the setting for "Enable Bandwidth Control" from Killer Network Manager.
    That should fix the problem.

If those suggestions don't apply to your system or don't resolve your issue, please start here -- for only ONE of the affected systems at a time (to minimize confusion):

    • Please follow the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x
    • If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and post back attached to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt)
    • NOTE: There is an FAQ section with valuable information located here - Common Questions, Issues, and their Solutions

Please let us know how it goes.

    Thanks,

  18. Excellent!

There is no expiration date for a consumer, 1-PC lifetime license.

Such a license can be activated on only 1 PC at a time, but it can be transferred to a different computer in the same household.

If the ribbon at the very top of the MBAM GUI/dashboard says "Premium" and if you purchased a 1-PC lifetime license, then you ought to be just fine.

    Yes, you are correct.

Unfortunately, the current program GUI/dashboard doesn't specify if a Premium license is the "lifetime" version (no expiration date) or the "subscription" version (with an expiration date).

You should be fine, but if you want to check to be sure, you can run this tool and then post back with its log attached to your next reply:

    Please create an mbam-check log:

    • Download mbam-check.exe from here and save it to your desktop
    • Double-click on mbam-check.exe to run it, it should then open a log file
    • Please do not copy and paste the entire contents of the log into your next post, instead please attach the log CheckResults.txt file which should now be located on your desktop to your next post.
    • Click on the More Reply Options button, then click on the Browse button to locate your log then click the Attach button to attach the log to your post

    Thanks,
