  1. That is a "True life story" of a Nobel laureate...
  2. Great Moments in Physics The following concerns a question in a physics degree exam at the University of Copenhagen. "Describe how to determine the height of a skyscraper with a barometer." One student replied: "You tie a long piece of string to the neck of the barometer, then lower the barometer from the roof of the skyscraper to the ground. The length of the string plus the length of the barometer will equal the height of the building." This highly original answer so incensed the examiner that the student was failed. The student appealed on the grounds that his answer was indisputably correct, and the university appointed an independent arbiter to decide the case. The arbiter judged that the answer was indeed correct, but did the problem it was decided to call the student in and allow him six minutes in which to provide a verbal answer which showed at least a minimal familiarity with the basic principles of physics. For five minutes the student sat in silence, forehead creased in thought. The arbiter reminded him that time was running out, to which the student replied that he had several extremely relevant answers, but couldn't make up his mind which to use. On being advised to hurry up the student replied as follows: "Firstly, you could take the barometer up to the roof of the skyscraper, drop it over the edge, and measure the time it takes to reach the ground. The height of the building can then be worked out from the formula H = 0.5g x t squared. But bad luck on the barometer." "Or if the sun is shining you could measure the height of the barometer, then set it on end and measure the length of its shadow. Then you measure the length of the skyscraper's shadow, and thereafter it is a simple matter of proportional arithmetic to work out the height of the skyscraper." "But if you wanted to be highly scientific about it, you could tie a short piece of string to the barometer and swing it like a pendulum, first at ground level and then on the roof of the skyscraper. The height is worked out by the difference in the gravitational restoring force T = 2 pi sqroot (l / g)." "Or if the skyscraper has an outside emergency staircase, it would be easier to walk up it and mark off the height of the skyscraper in barometer lengths, then add them up." "If you merely wanted to be boring and orthodox about it, of course, you could use the barometer to measure the air pressure on the roof of the skyscraper and on the ground, and convert the difference in millibars into feet to give the height of the building." "But since we are constantly being exhorted to exercise independence of mind and apply scientific methods, undoubtedly the best way would be to knock on the janitor's door and say to him 'If you would like a nice new barometer, I will give you this one if you tell me the height of this skyscraper'." The student was Niels Bohr, the only person from Denmark to win the Nobel prize for Physics.
  3. You treated us to such wonderful music.. RIP Glenn Frey..
  4. If you are looking for MBAE, Vista is supported and you may wait for MB staff to guide you on that.. PS : MBAE standalone will not do, you need an AV to be complemented by MBAE protection..
  5. Live-CD should do, for your specific browsing needs.. There are many distros around.. You can choose one that suits you..Good Luck..
  6. With added memory, you can have more possibilities.. I have a 1GB/32 bit system, with Win-10 and Adaware (free).. But off-late, it is used with Live-CD, with good connectivity & speed, rarely by me for some browsing and mostly by the children to play online games..It all depends on your needs & purpose..
  7. With "WINE" referring support for MBAM, can free version be put to use? Also, is there any Rescue CD type use of MBAM either alone or with a Rescue CD of any AV? Tks. in advance..
  8. I thought, with WIn 10, the EULA was the most controversial and intentions by MS well open.. Till this time, had no idea that MS took it up with its older versions too..(as you can see, the article referred is very recent).. Anyway, tks.. for the feedback..
  9. No doubt, not officially, and also nothing in favor in past discussions in the fora.. But see, on the 'WINE" page, ref. to MBAM.. Also, some links somewhere about, use with Ubuntu 13.4 or so..

  11. Yes.. Kaspersky can be very fussy.. Whenever, there is a browser update, their Browser plugins will always become in-compatible and needing rollback of browser to pre-update state, and remain so, for quite long periods, to be protected by Kaspersky and putting users in a quandary on browser safety..
  12. Generally, at the time of installation itself, AV's will check on compatibility aspect and some would be very particular (like Kapersky) & refuse to install, unless in-compatible products are removed.. But, in the combo of AV's I've gone for, no in-compatibility was reported either pre/post install and with no issues of conflict, so far, I have kept the set-up as it is.. Also, my browsing nature is generally around safe levels only (no fooling around, no rash clicking, with caution the watch word) and this also may be the reason, for absence of conflicts..
  13. Yes..everything boils down to cost, value for money..(maybe this might be handy in long camping trips etc.)..
  14. Hi. Check "More Reply Options" and find options to Attach files..
  15. Yes..it is in regard to the browsers bundled by AV's for most sensitive use viz., Banking, e-commerce access, etc. In Avast it's 'Safezone', Safepay with BD, etc. One can also go for, "Trusteer Rapport", "Quarri My POQ" etc., which also provide added security for Banking and other sensitive needs to safeguard identity/personal info.. Or may go with Live-CD use..

  17. Hi Vatu, Norton websites all around are similar and see below, on Norton 360 (products having evolved to Norton Security (Standard, Deluxe, Premium) plans.. As you can see, there is no product as 'Norton 360'
  18. Hi Vatu You have already tested it out, but still want a confirmation on compatibility.. MBAM is meant to supplement & work alongside AV's.. On licensing, as far as I know, there are no lifetime licenses, but you may wait for confirmation by the MB staff.. BTW how did you get Norton 360? Symantec has quite some time back itself revamped all their security plans and the basic pack is 'Norton Internet Security', which you need to check with their website, for getting proper product support..

  20. Oh..Reincarnatez @David is right in his advice to go for a packaged solution, which would address your needs as a part of its functionality.. With 'Safe browsing' options bundled with almost all AV's, a separate anti-keylogger would be superflous..
