  1. @Aura hardware & program compatibility are indeed checked by windows prior & post OS upgrade.. So, whatever a official confirmation by MS on the upgrade cover should put everything in place and will take up with MS to clear the air on this, which I hope you would also agree..
  2. @David H. Lipman I'll be taking up the issues on scheduled service and decide on the card & related drivers.. but meantime I must say that I no longer feel comfortable with Win-10 use.. @Aura I still believe, all pre-win 10 systems with earlier win versions are offered free OS upgrade by MS with all the hardwares & devices to be covered in consideration ( as most of the systems will be of pre-loaded OS with understanding between hardware manufacturers & MS).. so, IMO the issue lies with MS..
  3. @Aura I believe, MS is supposed to take care of the 'drivers' aspect with it's free upgrade offer (plug & play)..but which is problemmatic and in turn win-10 use.. (whether upgrade or of clean install ).. @David H. Lipman on wi-fi issue, i already stated about service call scheduled for 8th instant, when wi-fi card & drivers aspect would be taken up.. But meantime, this BSOD problem has also cropped up , which is a fresh issue with win-10..
  4. @David H. Lipman I mean't the worthiness of win-10.. (whether upgraded/ clean installed).. @Aura not so..
  5. @David H. Lipman the issues in Win-10 ( wi-fi, BSOD ) all point to problems with 'drivers' and which even a clean install may not solve,.. and question the worthiness of it..
  6. @David H. Lipman it's an upgrade.. win 8.1 to win 10 and then win 10 to november update (ver 1511).. no clean install so far.. -this BSOD was not there in win 8.1.. - as stated earlier, wi-fi connectivity is a problem in win 10 and now this BSOD.. - forced to use direct 'datacard' connection for network connectivity in win 10.. - when wi-fi needed, switching to 'live-cd'.. as such, there are drawbacks with win-10 & with 'live-cd' approach and have to make do with what is available.. but must say, win-10 is a greater problem with the BSOD's adding on to the problems..
  7. Win 10 crashes system with 'Faulty hardware corrupted page' BSOD error.. and that too out of the blue.. though this BSOD is a problem with all earlier versions, it's continued / carrying on the error even with it's latest Win 10 release does'nt bode good and especially when this error is seen in the system only under Win 10 and not seen with it's earlier versions.. Now, whether it's a move forward or going back with Win 10 is the point of interest..

    wi-fi issue

@David H. Lipman wi-fi was working in win-10 till problems started 2-3 days back.. and laptop works fine in win 8.1/live-cd, and why the problems in win-10 only & that too after being fine in win-10 till recentlly?..

    wi-fi issue

@David H. Lipman It is a laptop, ACER 4736z.. from this laptop, wifi is a problem only in win-10 , while no problems in win 8.1 or under 'live-cd' .. in win-10, keep getting error 'one or more network protocols are missing on this computer', in turn problems with windows sockets registry entries.. i have tried googled solutions, but nothing works.. The error and the problem seems nemesis of many.. and even MS has'nt been of help as googled..

    wi-fi issue

from the device when one can connect to the wi-fi network from win 8.1, live-cd , only with win 10 (Nov update) problem crops up.. A put-off for win-10 use..

    wi-fi issue

Wi-fi problem has returned in win 10, to be it's bane.. A sort of permanent breakdown of wi-fi connectivity error 'one or more network protocols are missing on this computer', pointing to errors in windows sockets registry entries and googled solutions do not solve it. even with a clean install, there is every possibility of recurrence of the problem.. Win 10 is no more a boon but a 'bane', forcing switch to 'live-cd' only.. EDIT : this problem seems to be prevalent and affecting many a user..
  14. sorry, AFAIK even if mbae64.exe & mbae-svc.exe are not running, tray icon will still .be in place if mbae.exe is running, and in short time trigger an alert/pop up that 'AE is not started'.. In case all three exe's are running, tray icon could still go for a walk.. In the present case (the weirdest of all) except mbae.exe other main exe's are running and an in-active tray icon in place... a cause of serious concern as notifications are hit and for a look into..
  15. At no point in time, the power plans were/are changed except for display brightness set for max/min w.r.t battery charging/discharging mode.. and things were fine until problems cropped up recently..and problem occuring only sometimes [twice over a period of 2 days)..occurence is uncertain.. As far as 'Acer' support is concerned, it is very disappointing . Acer customer service passing on responsibility to be addressed by service center and vice versa by the service center re-directing to Acer, leaving the user's high and dry..very frustrating response to go by.. so, a long road ahead to get issues resolved, meanwhile i will check if there are any event logs available to shed further light on this, but must say it is unlikely to be due power plans ..and still no clues to the issue..
  16. both the services 'mbae64.exe' & 'mbae-svc.exe' were running..
  17. so, mac address will be unique to the device, then what is the cause of wi-fi connectivity problem under win 10 in my laptop? btw, i'm now wi-fi connected with a fresh win 10 boot , with un-certainity about how long it will remain connected..
  18. the router is still on & working, while no network access in laptop ( no more connected by wi-fi..).. with the router still running, if i switch to win-8.1 or live-cd wi-fi gets established.. what i have not checked is 'wireless connections' going to the router page and i'm sure this will not show the win 10 connectivity (but i do have a doubt whether the mac address would be same for the laptop whether it's by win-10/ win 8.1/ live-cd)..
  19. yes.. 1195 build is in place..
  20. Notifications are key to protection and any impairment to this function hope would be looked into..
  21. Thanks for the response John.. As far as drivers are concerned, only Win 7 drivers are posted in Acer's website for the Laptop model 4736z..So stuck with what Windows decides for Win 10..and the present driver seems to be latest of Mar'2015 (Qualcomm Atheros AR5983 Wireless Network Adaptor).. so what causes the problem is un-clear? probably after the November update, I did run a WRSA optimize and may be this could have upset the function (maybe / maybe not).. But the bottomline is problem is specific to Win 10, as Wi-fi is OK in Win 8.1, Live-CD run..and while it was not working at all pre-November update, with Nov. update, it happens sometime during the browsing session and back only after a re-boot, leaving me clueless..
  22. the wi-fi problem is back again albeit resolved with re-boot, disrupting sessions flow..it it keeps recurring will have to go back to 'live-cd' use only..the relief seems to be short-lived..
  23. For quite some time, I was forced to depend on 'Live-CD' for Wi-fi connectivity, which was not working in Win 10 (but which was fine in Win 8.1)..Then 2 days back Win 10 updated/upgraded to the 'November update' ver.1511 (it took quite a while, to download & then install/upgrade to), which has solved the Wi-fi issue and find many new features in place in Win 10 (like 'Find my device' options etc.).. Welcome any views on this. TIA..
  24. when tray icon is in place, it is presumed protection is in place but it was a shocker, when at the end of the day, started to notice 'no notifications' for protections and no logs for the entire day.. on check, task manager showed no 'mbae.exe' (even though tray icon was in place).. A reboot restored functions but what caused the gaffe is not known? PS : Yes Trusteer is in place and just 2 days back win 10 updated/upgraded to ver.1511 (november update) but seem unrelated to the problem..
