  6. The block was triggered when update was taken up with the application's 'check for update' option.. So, did a direct download of full installer from the VLC site and ran it, which then asked for 'uodate with existing settings and on confirming, the update went off w/o any hitch.. So, what caused the problem in the first instance??
  7. VLC update to v2.2.2 triggers 'behavior block' by MBAE.. Since, direct posting of the alert image is not being allowed, giving the details of the alert.. 'Malwarebytes Anti-exploit has blocked an exploit attempt' Appl - VLC Player Protection layer - Application Behaviour Protection protection technique - exploit payload process blocked File/process blocked - c:\users\...\appdata\local\temp\vlc-2.2.2-win64.exe Attacking URL - N/A
  8. My startup takes more than 5 mts and shutdown is also time taking.. yet to check if could be related to MBARW.. This even with beta5..

  11. Normal installation is still a problem.. Had to, once again, resort to 'Safe mode' to uninstall / fresh install to Beta5..
  12. Let me be even more elaborate.. At the server end, the data has to be retrieved from the storage medium, the data access rate (read/write from the storage & also memory access) , which has to be at par/better than the rate at which it has to be transferred over the FO carriers.. Similarly at the receiving, client side, the clients system (desktop/lapiop) storage medium data access rates (read/write) & memory (RAM) needs to be also at par/better than the data download rate, for proper benefit of the faster internet speed.. Now, is all device/peripherals access rates technology at sync. to embrace the FO technology?? Tks. in advance..
  13. Oh.. find both articles are related.. BTW is it not necessary for the storage/memory access rates at server/client ends to be compatible to the network bandwidth needs, are in sync for proper benefit of the Fibre Optic technology??
  14. Seems both of different techniques.. BTW, even if one goes to 'rediff.com' one would see, many links/ads, and in 'Techtimes' i see only links to articles, maybe due to Adblocks.. Anyway thanks for the word of caution..

  19. Fine.. I've been using it for quite a while and very comfortable with it.. Certainly, XP users will feel the pinch of support retirement.. Though, I also have other options on hand and in addition, the fact of my shifting between Windows & Non-Windows use, off-late..
  20. I feel the article gives a good insight/understanding of the involved players, threat impact for one to take proper counter measures..

  22. It is 'unthinkable', what with organized crime, high stakes in play, even probably involving syndicates, sends shivers down..

  24. MS inspite of tall claims on Win 10 & Edge being 'Secure', continues it's legacy of Security Updates release, the latest as per http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/update-history-windows-10 .. You were right, insecurities will be a part & parcel of MS software..
