  1. shan.m.kel, Please use the ADD REPLY button at the bottom of the page in the future Sure, I'll start a new thread for you in the PC Help forum Let me know when you're ready!
  2. Just posting some results here: This all of course after updating my KAV to the most recent version, which my most recent post in this thread states. I just uninstalled my Mbam Beta, cleaned it up. Did a clean install of 1.44. Re-registered. Rebooted. None of my three browsers froze upon opening.
  3. I stand corrected. After updating my version, which I had not realized before was not totally up to date, I am now at 9.0.0.736. I have (and have had) Mbam's executables excluded as well in Kaspersky. Opened up my browser just fine with no freezing.
  4. Hey, just wondering when this started for you? I haven't had any issues in the last week streaming movies. I'll try later though and see if I do have any issues, as I haven't streamed in a couple of days. Edit: Works fine for me, I suspect you're on Vista or 7? I'm on XP.
  5. Also, just to clarify to you, mylanta3, and everyone else, I am NOT having the EXACT same issue. My issue usually happens when I am already in the midst of browsing, and the computer will temporarily lock up for 30 seconds to 3 minutes (one time was almost 8 minutes, I was almost ready to press the power button), but it does come out of it if I wait. Like Exile has stated, we've determined its most likely the background scan/rootkit background scan and/or when its updating, although its hard to tell for sure. Last night I did disable protections in my Spyware Blaster and Spy Bot immunizations to see if that will help at all, and also I switched my main browser a few weeks or so ago to see if that would help, since Firefox was using A LOT of memory. Switching my browser has helped a lot, but I am still experiencing some locking up from time to time, usually just 30 to 60 seconds.
  6. Yes. XP SP3 and Mbam Pro Would you mind using the ADD REPLY button please? Just write @username when replying, I'll know what you're replying about.
  7. @ mylanta3 I have KAV 2010, version 9. something.. I can edit this post when I am at my computer again and give you the exact version number, if that would be helpful Edit: Also if there is anything that I could possibly help with in testing I'd be happy to try, depending on what it is. I am sick of my occasional freezes, I'd like them to stop too. I don't have the severity of the freezing problem that you are experiencing of course, but, I'd still like to help and help us all
  8. You don't have a sample that you can provide as well? False positives should be posted here: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showforum=42 Instructions that you should read first are here: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=3228 Thanks
  9. Hi critzi, and welcome to the forums there at Malwarebytes.org Do you have any reason to believe that you may have been infected within the last few days to a week? As a side note, please use the "ADD REPLY" button when replying, as this makes the forum easier to read. Thank you
  10. shan.m.kel, I am a recent former AVG user, I too noticed a big difference when switching from AVG to something else (Kaspersky). If you need some assistance picking out an AV and would like some recommendations and download links, I'd be more than happy to help you with that!
  11. You are most welcome! I hope you do like it here, I know I sure do! As I'm sure you can see, I've been here for a while, hehe.
  12. alhazred, No problem! That's what we're here for! Any other questions about IP blocking or the program or anything, just post There's almost always someone around who can help here.
  13. @ Buttons Well, I am pretty sure its instantaneous, at least thats how it seems when it blocks sites and ads for me Anyway, lets not take up alhazred's thread discussing this; if you want to discuss this further we can start a new thread in General Chat or something.
  14. Hello alhazred, welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org and thank you for your purchase Yes, I would say that it definitely worth it to have the IP protection on! Having a HOSTS file is also a great protection tool, but it is not the same as IP blocking. The IP blocker feature definitely provides an additional layer of protection by blocking malicous IP's as well as malicious IP ranges (whereas the HOSTS file blocks individual websites), therefore blocking websites likely to infect you so that the website cannot load and therefore you do not get infected! Don't hesitate to ask if you have any further questions! As a side note, please use the "ADD REPLY" button when replying, as this makes the forum easier to read. Thank you Edit: Buttons, your HOSTS file allows websites to almost load? Mine has a complete block right off the bat when I try to go to a website saying, Blocked: www.somebadwebsite.com instead of showing me any of the website.
  15. Please use the ADD REPLY button when replying, thanks I dunno. It doesn't happen on all systems. How much ram do you have? Does it happen when you don't have very many programs open?
  16. I have KAV and Mbam and I do get some freezing sometimes but its because my computer can't handle it sometimes I think... nothing to do with MBAM. I also started using a different browser since Firefox is a big resource hog sometimes, at least on my system, and that really helped. I've added the necessary exclusions and they get along prefectly Do you have exclusions added?
  17. You're welcome, no problem! Good luck!
  18. Hey there, ErikdeRed, and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org You should really be in the Malware Removal Forum... Please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here. One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available. Please note that it may take 48 hours or more for you to receive a response in the malware removal forum, as it is often busy at times. Please do not reply to your own post asking for help unless its been more than 48 hours since you originally posted, as this can make it appear as though you are being helped and take longer for you to get help. If you are unable to do all or any of the steps in the link to the directions above, just post your problem into the forum I gave you a link to anyway and someone will be able to assist you. Also, when replying, please use the "ADD REPLY" button or erase what the person you are replying to said, as this makes the forum easier to read. Thank you
  19. I mix it up between Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Orca Browser.
