Incompatability

I am running windows xp on my desktop, so when I turn it on today it says new version of avira is available. I download the latest version and when I go to install it it says malwarebyte is incompatible and please remove it in order to install. Now much as I like avira because it's free I like MB better and don't want to uninstall it. Now my question is what is a good virus protection software i can buy that will work with my xp desktop and windows 7 laptop and MB. Preferably with 2 pc licenses.

Hi

I'm an Avira Internet Security 2012 user. Yes, it does want you to uninstall Malwarebytes but this is easy enough to sort out.

This method is if you are installing Avira with Malwarebytes Pro running:

1. Disable Malwarebytes.

2. Install Avira.

3. Add exclusions within Avira and Malwaebytes.

4. Re-enable Malwarebytes and your good to go.

If Avira is already installed but Malwarebytes is uninstalled:

1. Download and install Malwarebytes free.

2. Add exclusions to Avira and Malwarebytes.

3. Insert your ID and product key in to Malwarebytes.

I have used both methods one on my computer and the other on my Parents'.

But if you really want to change from Avira I would recommend Avast Internet Security (which I use on my netbook).

Hope this is useful

Using XP sp3/MBAM pro and I unstalled previous Antivir version and installed new Avira 12 version, the recommendation to uninstall these two programs SywareBlaster/Spybot Search and Destroy which I ignored and continue the installation. No problems to speak of at the moment.:)

W7 pro 64bit is my next victim ;)

On the new version, under configuration I only see real time protection exceptions is that the same as process omitted by guard?

Hello DJKIRO

Yes, Antivir has changed the wording Guard (Ver.10.2.0.704) to Realtime Protection in AntiVir (Ver.12.0.0.855).
