Ignore List Maintenance

Recommended Posts

We have various business applications (some home grown) that have files that return false positives. Unfortunately, these files are located in numerous directories througout each computer system. Plus, we wouldn't want to randomly ignore a whole directory, as that is just asking for trouble. As best as we can tell, MBAM doesn't have the ability to enter a file path (e.g. c:\windows\syswow64\random.dll). Rather, you have to manually browse for files to select to be placed on the ignore list and if the file doesn't exist yet, you can't setup the exclusion in advance. Considering we have a long, known list of files that need excluded on every single system based on the applications being installed, this is a major pain in the arse. Plus, we like to setup the files to be ignored before we even install the software. With all the other programs we have tested, we were able to copy and paste the full file path (e.g. c:\windows\syswow64\random.dll) to add the file to the ignore list in advance of software installation. Ideally, we could import our ignore list, but we have only found one malware program that can do that.

We have tested and *love* MBAM, but we can't justify purchasing licensed copies for each of our systems when maintaining the ignore list is difficult. Are we missing something? Is there a way to enter a full file path (e.g. c:\windows\syswow64\random.dll)? Or are you relegated to the 'user-friendly' point and click only?

A million thanks!

Either we need to take that as a "No, you can't build your ignore list quickly/efficiently" or you didn't read our post. We'll go with the former.

  • As we stated in our post, we are not a customer, yet.
  • We did contact corporate-support@malwarebytes.org four days ago without a response. Ergo, our forum post.
  • We attempted to locate a pre-sales support telephone number (before emailing or posting) for the most immediate response and were unable to do so.

Hello let me please try to clear some things up for you.

#1 - If you're not a customer with a valid license then the use of our program on a business system is against the EULA. Use of the program on any type of business system requires licensing.

#2 - What email address did you use when opening a ticket on the help desk? I have just checked and the email address you use here on the forum has no tickets on the help desk.

#3 - I'm sorry but we currently do not have a phone number to speak directly with sales. You can send an email directly to sales though at corporate@malwarebytes.org and someone can assist you.

Please make sure to have these email addresses in your Safe Sender list - malwarebytes.org and salesforce.com

Thank you and I hope the above information is helpful.

Although the timeliness of MBAM staff members is highly impressive (especially on the weekend), the relevance of the responses is equally off - plus, we are beginning to wonder why such a simple pre-sales question would be so evaded.

As we previously stated, we are *not* a customer, yet. We literally have ZERO installations of MBAM deployed on any company computers, we have never installed MBAM on any company computer, and we will NOT be installing MBAM on any company computer unless the software passes our review and we garner purchasing approval.

Two of our IT personnel utilize MBAM personally (on desktop and laptop computers owned by them) and recommended the product in addition to our current, corporate licensed utilities. As MBAM does not have a corporate evaluation program, we asked one of the IT personnel to perform the normal evaluation routine on one of their personal computers, which is what we always do in this situation.

The email address associated with our forum account would not have been used to contact your help desk and we aren't comfortable posting an email address on a public forum.
