MBAM won't load

Recommended Posts

I updated MBAM but it won't run after updating. I've tried all the suggested, ie MBAM clean, new download, disabling kaspersky, I have even rolled back the system to a prior date but no go!!

My system is XP sp3 AMD Athlon x64 2meg of RAM Biostar MB. In common with all other posters on this forum, the previous version of MBAM worked fine, but the update installs and then refuses to run. I would hate to ditch MBAM after using it successfully for quite a while, but it's looking that way unless MBAM can come up with a simple solution.

Hello Bob:

It's likely I'll defer to a Malwarebytes' staffer for your furthered assistance. However, please follow the instructions below to start them with additional information.

Please download Oldtimer's latest OTL.exe to your Desktop.

To Download/Run OTL:

  • Download the most recent OTL.exe from
here.
Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
OTL should now start. Change only the following settings:

Change Drivers to:
All
.

Change Standard Registry to:
All
.

Under File Scans, check that
File Age
is
30
.

Click the
Run Scan
button. Do not change any other settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan shouldn't take long.

When the scan completes, it will open two Notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt (first run only). These are saved in the same location as OTL.exe
Please attach these 2 files in your next reply.

Thank you for your patience Bob. :)

Hello Bob:

As promised, a Malwarebytes' staffer is looking at your system's OTL output files.

In a brief look at your event logs, possible hard disk drive corruption may have been detected. Could you please run CHKDSK when possible and correct any remaining issues?

Also, you may wish to update your copy of JAVA if it's still at 6 update 24.

Thank you. :)
