Updates in a limited user account

if by "limited account" you mean the "free" version of many of the "anti" programs ...

in a word ; "yes" .

with the free versions of some "anti" programs there will be either no automatic updating (you will have to tell the program to update manually) or there will be a limit on the number of updates in a given time frame that will be done automatically (say once every 24 hours , but you can manually update more than that) .

it all depends on what the makers of that software decide to put out in their free version .

"your mileage may vary ..."

In a limited user account you can still update manually by right-clicking on the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware desktop shortcut or START>All Programs>Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware>Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware program shortcut and selecting Run as administrator.

For the paid version it will still update if using the Scheduler for automatic updates.
