Bobc11 Posted October 7, 2010 ID:324458 Share Posted October 7, 2010 The gateway 400sd4 i have has a problem i belive with the dc jack soldered onto the mother board becaye if it is not (the power coard) positioned right thecopmuter loses power completely. What should I do. I know there is a way to replace the DC jack but i am not sure how. Please help. I will have to make do with what i have now for tomarrows presentation. A reply to a post just like yours, heres the reply: "I just had that problem. Go to ebay and look up Gateway 400sd4 dc jack. You can buy one for like 6 bucks. take the motherboard to a local electronics shop and have them solder the new piece on. That might save you abot 300$."regards.... I take them apart and most of the times the jack is fine, its what we technicians call a cold solder contact. We just re-solder them back in place and problem is usually solved.
