Visual C++ Runtime error

Recommended Posts

I received a computer with XP home to clean up. I logged in as administrator in "safe mode" installed MBam. During the install I got this:

Visual C++ Runtime Library

Program C:\.......malwarebytes....mbam.exe

This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way

Please contact application support team ......

I then changed the name of the exe to MB but got the same runtime error, with only the name change of the exe file. We are running AVG free 8.5 and Windows firewall. What's my next step? I have not tried an earlier restore point yet.

Hello Toms94, and welcome to Malwarebytes.org

it could be the malware that is on that computer that is causing the issues you are having.

Now that you have it installed, update it and run a quick scan (preferably in normal mode) and clean up the malware.

Good luck, but if you are not successful in the clean up please follow the instructions below:

We don't work on Malware removal in the general forums.

Hi Toms94 and welcome to malwarebytes'!

Might I suggest you check your computer out in the malware removal section? Although it seems the problem is fixed it never hurts to make sure. :) The people there should be able to confirm if no leftovers are still lurking.. :)
