  1. Sorry, it appears that I have posted in the wrong area.....
  2. Hi, I had a Dell Inspiron mini brought to me because it is "acting funny". It has Win 7 on it. I installed Malwarebytes and it did it's normal download of updates, but as soon as it started the scan, it shuts off. OK (thinks I), I'll go into safe mode and knock this little bugger out. I get the same thing in safe mode. It will not let me run any scan. Nothing pops up to identify what the malware is...but I suspect it is Antivirus 2010 as it shows up in the add/remove program list and will not let me uninstall it. I have dealt with this one before but I was able to go into Safe Mode and get rid of it (on an XP machine). What do I need to do to get rid of this? I tried to follow the steps in "OK I'm infected, what do I do now?" I tried to install rootrepeal, but it doesn't work with 64 bit OS. Help me out here.
  3. I ran a complete scan in safe mode, it found a few items, which I deleted. I have now started the computer in normal mode and I am currently running a quick scan, so far nothing. It came up with no items. And seems to be running fine.
  4. Update, I logged off as Admin and on as the owner. Installed Mbam with no problem, updated fine. Not sure what's going on.
  5. Oh, I might add that the program appeared to go ahead and install, but I get the same error on trying to load the program (double clicking the icon)
  6. I received a computer with XP home to clean up. I logged in as administrator in "safe mode" installed MBam. During the install I got this: Visual C++ Runtime Library Program C:\.......malwarebytes....mbam.exe This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way Please contact application support team ...... I then changed the name of the exe to MB but got the same runtime error, with only the name change of the exe file. We are running AVG free 8.5 and Windows firewall. What's my next step? I have not tried an earlier restore point yet.
