it downloaded but freezes up during scan

Recommended Posts

I have heard this is the best software out there and I downloaded it and it seems to be okay. I don't have any sort active virus or infection, I am just using this to scan my computer but I cannot get it to fully scan. It scans for about 30 seconds and then freezes up. I need to get this to scan all the way through but it just freezes and then says its not responding. No codes pop up or anything, it just freezes up.

AVG right now, just downloaded this new one, because I have heard it can find things AVG can't.

Mistythe, please be advised that malwarebytes is not an antivirus program, it is an anti-malware program and you need to run both an antivirus program and also an anti-malware program as well.

Well I followed step by step the instructions and I thought it would work lol. But the last scan stopped after one minute and froze, the file it stopped on was :

C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe

And I put that exact file in the AVG program exception box. I just double checked to make sure it was that file that I added to the AVG exception and it is in that list under resident shield.

I dont know what else to do. :D

I am keeping my AVG running, its a work computer and my boss wants me to also clean up my computer with this malware software and we just can't get it to work. It helped fix up the other two computers at my work but it won't stop freezing up on mine. We all have AVG antivirus but my computer seems to be the only one having problems with it freezing up mid-scan. So yeah, I'm not replacing anything with this software, I was just hoping it would get rid of some of the extra junk on my computer. I think something is up because its been running alot slower, but I dont know if this is the best way to go... Thanks for the advice. Any more advice is very welcome. THANKS :D
