drdas Posted October 20, 2023 ID:1596011 Share Posted October 20, 2023 Over the last few days, when I go into the support tab and click on "check for database updates" it briefly shows "checking for database updates" and then rapidly returns to "check for database updates". If this means that the database is up to date, it is a different functionality than for the other browser guard plug ins, where the box turns grey and says "database is up to date." I have tried the "factory reset" option, but it did not change the functionality. I am running on Sonoma 14.0 with browser guard version 2.0.0 on safari. Link to post
1PW Posted October 24, 2023 ID:1596551 Share Posted October 24, 2023 Hello @drdas: Would you please verify the version of Safari installed? Thank you. Link to post
1PW Posted October 25, 2023 ID:1596649 Share Posted October 25, 2023 Hello @drdas: In this instance, you and I are running the same software. Of course, Apple's restrictions would not permit a similar Malwarebytes Browser Guard (MBG) that compares closely to those for Firefox/Chrome-based browsers. Be that as it may, the behaviors you described parallel what I see on my laptop. Devs/staffers may have some additional insight. HTH Link to post
drdas Posted October 25, 2023 Author ID:1596666 Share Posted October 25, 2023 @1PW thanks…. I’m glad it’s not just me at least. I wonder if there is a way to check to see if it actually is updating even though it isn’t showing it… I can’t see a way to check for a database version number as we would in mwb proper. Link to post
Staff Solution gatortail Posted October 25, 2023 Staff Solution ID:1596738 Share Posted October 25, 2023 We just released v2.1 but this issue will be resolved in v2.2 Link to post
drdas Posted October 25, 2023 Author ID:1596744 Share Posted October 25, 2023 Thanks @gatortail! Can you please confirm updates are occurring to the database even though the interface does not show it? Link to post
Staff gatortail Posted October 25, 2023 Staff ID:1596753 Share Posted October 25, 2023 Apologies, yes. This is just a UI issue. Link to post
drdas Posted October 25, 2023 Author ID:1596769 Share Posted October 25, 2023 Thanks, @gatortail. One more likely unrelated item. Just updated to macOS 14.1 and the App Store indicates browser guard 2.1.0 was installed, but the interface indicates that 2.0.1 is actually the one in use. Any thoughts on this? I suspect it is just an error in the version number displayed, since I see no evidence of a 2.0.1 ever having been published. Link to post
Staff gatortail Posted October 26, 2023 Staff ID:1596833 Share Posted October 26, 2023 Doh, it should be 2.1.0 Link to post
Lth651 Posted November 5, 2023 ID:1598478 Share Posted November 5, 2023 The latest version for Safari does not detect ANY of the phishing sites on openphish.com. Link to post
