New & Confused

Recommended Posts

I am new to the community and installed the program on two of my home laptops. On my main one that I use the most there were alot of actions that were Replaced and Not Quarantined. Obviously not an IT person I have no idea what that means... just looking for more information on these things mean... and why would it be replaced instead of quarantined if it's a PUP or adware? Didn't make much sense to me.

Anyway thanks in advance for the help! I hope I posted in the right spot

It just means it was replaced with the correct default instead of quarantined. As long as a subsequent scan is clean you are good to go.

You also might want to run Malwarebytes stand alone tool AdwCleaner. To download AdwCleaner 8, click here. The user guide https://support.malwarebytes.com/docs/DOC-3351

Hi @LHilde42,

In your report, the "replaced" items correspond to legitimate Chrome configuration files that have had potentially unwanted modifications made to them. Malwarebytes does not quarantine these files as it could potentially break your Chrome browser. Instead, it opts to selectively remove the unwanted modifications made to the files (either by replacing with good values or by removing the offending values entirely), whilst leaving the file itself intact. This action is referred to as "replace" in the scan results displayed/reported by Malwarebytes.

As you've already had Malwarebytes take action on the items, no further action is required providing you are not experiencing any outstanding issues.
