The Man-in-the-middle attack is not a true antivirus or antimalware issue. Using the https protocol ensures that there is a valid encrypted connection based on a certificate. A successful attack would almost certainly involve malware being place onto your computer that was not detected by any security software you have. Then mimicking the other site at such a level that it would fool you into believing you were on the real site. That alone is a very difficult undertaking and the time and cost involved are a deterrent as well. We will certainly block IP and File downloads that we know could infect your computer. IDS can help to prevent MITMA but some users disable it due to amount of false positives.
