Secure Shopping? & Man in the Middle Attacks

The Man-in-the-middle attack is not a true antivirus or antimalware issue. Using the https protocol ensures that there is a valid encrypted connection based on a certificate. A successful attack would almost certainly involve malware being place onto your computer that was not detected by any security software you have. Then mimicking the other site at such a level that it would fool you into believing you were on the real site. That alone is a very difficult undertaking and the time and cost involved are a deterrent as well. We will certainly block IP and File downloads that we know could infect your computer. IDS can help to prevent MITMA but some users disable it due to amount of false positives.

An intrusion detection system (IDS) is a device or software application that monitors a network or systems for malicious activity or policy violations. ... The most common classifications are network intrusion detection systems (NIDS) and host-based intrusion detection systems (HIDS).

Thank you
