larryrutt Posted September 28, 2016 ID:1064420 Share Posted September 28, 2016 A malware ransomware got through, complete with a loud beeping horn and an ominous message to "Comcast cable" user and an 888 number to call to have a technician fix the problem. Sorry I don't have more details because I immediately shut down the laptop, pulled the AC cord and removed the battery. Rebuilding and rebooting successful. As you stated since you don't have more details its really hard for us to determine if something actually got through especially a ransomeware as you stated. By the sounds of it, it sounds as if it was one of those fake scam popups, like the ones below, does that look familiar? Similar to these ? You can safely ignore it.
