[SOLVED] Automatic Merge, redux (interval?)

The original "automatic merge" thread has been locked.

Has the merge interval been changed for all groups or regular members?

In this thread, the OP just now posted 3 replies, 2 minutes apart each, and they were not merged.

So, is there a new setting???

Yes it was disabled. There were many more cases of Helpers, Moderators, and Admins with posts that were being merged when that was not the intent. If I replied to 5 different people in the same topic even though there were multiple posts going on inbetween then all my posts or a Helpers posts would be in one post. Easier, better to put up with the occasional noob posting multiple times than not being able to help different users with different posts specifically for them.

Unfortunately it is a Global setting and is not controlled by Group permissions. Which means it all or nothing and cannot be avoided by higher up groups so we decided to disable it.

OK, thanks for the update.

I didn't particularly like it, but was starting to get used to it.

(Seems strange that it's ONLY a global setting... But, so it is.)
