Malwarebytes detected 877 objects

Recommended Posts

Hello,

In 47 minutes of running last evening, Malwarebytes scanned 423171 objects and detected 877.

It was only at the 47 minute mark that I began recording results, so it may have gotten to numbers sooner.

I allowed it to scan but the numbers remained the same, so I let it run overnight.

This morning, it posted results and I attempted to print-out a txt file of those results but was not successful because I got a message the program was not responding.

This morning I did the Farbar recovery and have attached the two requested files.

Now about following directions, I see where I click "Follow this topic" but there is nothing for "Immediate Email Notification".

I'll continue on and hope for the best.

TIA for any help.

Hello,

They call me TwinHeadedEagle around here, and I'll be working with you.

Before we start please read and note the following:

Limit your internet access to posting here, some infections just wait to steal typed-in passwords.
Please be patient. I know it is frustrating when your PC isn't working properly, but malware removal takes time.
Don't run any scripts or tools on your own, unsupervised usage may cause more harm than good.
Do not paste the logs in your posts, attachments make my work easier. There is a Attach Files option below which you can use to attach your reports. Always attach reports from all tools.
Stay with me to the end, the absence of symptoms doesn't mean that your machine is fully operational.
Note that we may live in totally different time zones, what may cause some delays between answers.
Do not ask for help for your business PC. Companies are making revenue via computers, so it is good thing to pay someone to repair it.
If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed.

icon_idea.gif I can't foresee everything, so if anything unexpected happens, please stop and inform me!
icon_idea.gif There are no silly questions. Never be afraid to ask if in doubt!

I would like to see MalwareBytes report.

  • At the bottom click Export and choose Text file.
  • Save the file to your desktop and include its content in your next reply.

FRST.gif Fix with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

icon_exclaim.gif This fix was created for this user for use on that particular machine. icon_exclaim.gif
icon_exclaim.gif Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable. icon_exclaim.gif

Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!

  • Right-click on FRST.gif icon and select RunAsAdmin.jpg Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
  • Press the Fix button just once and wait.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  • When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.
  • Please attach it to your reply.

    adwcleaner_new.png Fix with AdwCleaner

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save the file to your desktop.
    • Right-click on adwcleaner_new.png icon and select RunAsAdmin.jpg Run as Administrator to start the tool.
    • Follow the prompts and click Scan.
    • When finished, please click Clean.
    • Upon completion, click Report. A log (AdwCleaner[s*].txt) will open.
Please include the contents of that file in your reply.

Hello "TwinHeadedEagle",

1. About uninstalling Adobe and the two Java programs, I did those operations; however, I have not installed the latest versions.

2. It took about 10 hours to get Malwarebytes to finish its work.

3. My next step is to do "Farbar Recovery Scan Tool".

Thanks for the help.

I am nervous and so unsure about all this due to its newness.

Hello again,

I don't know where to find "Farbar Recovery Scan Tool".

Because your message tells me, "The fix that was created for this user for use on that particular machine.", I'm reluctant to try anything I could find searching the Internet.

What would you want for me to do?

TIA

Please bare with me; right now I have never felt so dumb....

1. OK, I have Fixlist.txt saved to the desktop.

2. But where do I look to find FRST now so I can download it? What is its extension?

I do need to mention that somehow, yesterday morning, I did manage to download FRST.exe and FRST.txt; I have no idea how I did that; both files are in a folder saved to my desktop.

Hello again,

1. Attached is Fixlog.txt.

I think I did that part right.

2. Attached is a report from AdwCleaner.

I know I messed up here because I did not follow the directions the first time.

My mistake was I unintentionally skipped over 'clicking Clean' before 'clicking Report'.

So I ignored that report; however, for whatever it may be worth, it is attached as [R0].

Then I re-ran AdwCleaner to get the report that is attached as [s1].

I apologize for my error.

Perhaps it is my imagination (or wishful thinking on my part) but the computer seems to be working faster.

Hello THE (TwinHeadedEagle),

It seems to be ok but something funny happens in the screen's lower-right corner on power-up.

There is a small icon, shaped like a shield, red in color with a white x in it; it is Microsoft's icon seen when I go to the control-panel for Window's firewall to show the firewall is off.

A message pop-up that the firewall is off.

I know that I had set it on and, going to control-panel-->window's firewall, I see that it is indeed ON.

Yet, if I click the icon in the screen's lower-right corner, there it does show the firewall is off......strange!!!!

Today, I have done a check-disc and then defragged the drive.

Then I did another Malwarebytes scan and it ran for something like 8 or 9 hours; 424080 objects scanned and detected 760.

I did a printout of the newest scan but notice it has the same time-stamp as the one I sent you before; it should have shown 31-july-2014.

Also FRST.exe crashes, so I cannot get a fixlog.txt.

I have done extensive reading over the past day about malware and come to realize that one product may not catch 100% of problems.

If it is ok with you, I'd like to run bitdefender (it gets high marks but not quite as high as Malwarebytes); bitdefender has a cloud version that is free and fast.

warning.gif Windows XP end of support warning!

As 8th of April 2014 has passed, this Operating System is not longer supported by the Microsoft
Any patches, updates or security releases are ceased for this System.

This is just an information for you if not aware.
My recommendation would be to start thinking about replacing it with some newer edition, like Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8.

Is Windows Update turned on? Your PC is heavily outdated.
