  1. Hi Sho-dan, Thanks for the reply. Yes it worked, and maybe that is as good as anything. I agree that time and resources are well spent on the main MBAM program. Essentially everyone that cleans computers uses it, and evidently as I did downloading to the infected computer from a disk. I believe MBA M will remain at the top for its intended use. Regards, Jerry
  2. A friend got infected with a rogue several months ago. It would not permit him to download MBAM so I took a CD with MBAM exe on it, and was able to download and clean his system. I read about rescue disks, and wonder if there is one by MBAM? Or is it a matter of taking the program on a disk and installing it on the infected computer? Thanks, Jerry
  3. Yes, I do not remember any scan previously taking longer than slightly over an hour. I don't run a full scan very often. I can live with the 2 hrs and just scan when I am not going to use the computer for a time. Regards, Jerry
  4. I ran a check disk, and exited my AV, KIS, and ran a complete scan. It took 2 hours, 21 min, 41 sec. While that is a long time, it is not a problem as I can see that it will complete. Thanks for the help. Regards, Jerry
  5. Thanks for the help. I will give those things a try. It may very well be that KIS firewall is slowing it down. Regards, Jerry
  6. Yesterday I decided to do a complete scan with MBAM Pro. I stopped it after 3 hours and 30 minutes. Today I tried again, and after 2hrs and 45 minutes it was still scanning. In the past it has taken an hour or slightly over at tiimes, but never like these last two. I am running Windows XP. Is there some setting that is causing such slow complete scans? No application I have ever tried even approaches such long times to scan. Thanks, Jerry
  7. KIS 2010 and MBAM run well together. Regards, Jerry
  8. Is it necessary to uninstall the free version to upgrade? I don't remember that I did, but I was asked the question. Thanks, Jerry
  9. I used them together without issue. Currently my daughter is using Avira Premium, and MBAM. Regards, Jerry
  10. Thanks for the suggestion. However, I don't really understand how to do that. I will wait until future versions are out. It is not a real problem, but just an inconvenience. Thanks again. Regards, Jerry
  11. Thanks, Buttons, I do have the paid version. Maybe the next version will allow other options. As I stated, it is not really a big problem, but more of an inconvenience. Regards, Jerry
  12. So far I have not found an option to update MBAM more than once per day, and at a specific time. I don't leave my computer on 24/7. It may not be on at any particular time, and requires manual update. That is not the end of the world, but would be more convenient if there was an option to check ever so often. Am I missing something? Regards, Jerry
  13. Thanks. I have posted elsewhere that a friend running Norton got infected with antivir rogue. It would not let him download anything. I took a CD with MBAM on it, and we installed it and ran a scan. MBAM detected and removed it with one Quick Scan. Norton is one of the best, and I decided to run MBAM in real time as a result. Regards, Jerry
  14. When you get time I would appreciate knowing what security applications you were using, and especially if you were running MBAM real time. I have just started running it real time due to a friend's infection. Thanks, Jerry
  15. Thanks, so I assume it raises a red flag that causes the block. Regards, Jerry
  16. I am in the slow group, and have no idea what that means. Is it really a malicious site? Thanks, I do appreciate the help. In general I have high confidence in MBAM as to protection from accidently clicking on a site that is disguised with a similar name like antivir which is a rogue. Regards, Jerry
  17. Thanks Marcus. Yes, it is ticked. I have left everything set at the default settings I think. Regards, Jerry
  18. This time I got the IP which was 209.44.107.13 but I cannot find what that is. Regards, Jerry
  19. Hi Marcus, Thanks for the reply. All I can find in the "logs" are entries relating to Protection started and update. I do not find any record of blocked sites. Not sure what happened. Regards, Jerry
  20. A couple of times I get the pop up that MBAM has blocked a malicious site. Just now when bringing up the browser I got that notification, and a number. Before I could copy the number 209.? it disappeared and I have no idea as to what it was. I cannot find a way to retrieve it. the notification needs to remain until one can copy it. How can I set up so that I can find what was blocked. I do know in one instance the site was not nalicious and I put it on the white? list. Regards, Jerry
  21. Hi mountaintree, I realize that two AVs or two software firewalls will conflict, but I wonder if the conflicts between other applications or with others and AVs are not overblown, and folks quoting what others had said. I would like some data or tests that indicate that MBAM for instance really conflicts with any AV or if in the event of an attempted penetration there was a conflict that permitted the infection due to a conflict between the AV and anti-malware applications. I would accept experiences that would verify that it is a problem. I have not found that my systems show a conflict between SAS Pro, MBAM and several AVs to include Avira, KIS, Avast, and F-Secure. It seems that the AV vendors like to claim that their AV suites do not need any layering, but I am not convinced. It is pretty well established that AVs are not designed to detect all malware, and that is where something like MBAM is needed. Regards, Jerry
  22. Hi noknojon, First, I like your avatar. I do not think that is you, and I bet you are not so cute. Thanks for the info. So far I am not finding any problem with the combination, although I think I will run only MBAM and Win Patrol real time with KIS 2010. I will take a look at Exile 360's posts. Regards, Jerry
  23. Having had a friend whose computer became infected with antivir rogue while he was running one of the best AVs Norton, according to several test like AV Comparatives, I decided to run MBAM alongside KIS2010. I am also running Win Patrol and SAS Pro. I am going to discontinue running SAS real time, and use it on-demand. There are those who say that running an AV or suite along with an application like MBAM is overkill and may lead to problems including lack of detection if malware attempts to penetrate the computer protection. So I have two questions for those who are knowledgeable (I am not.) Do you consider KIS MBAM and Win Patrol all in real time overkill? Can someone provide some documentation or real world experience where running an AV and AM applications in real time has caused problems in detection or protection? I do find that many of the AVs/suites forums claim that there is no need for any other security application to run in real time. As far as I am concerned my friend's experience disputes that claim. Regards and thanks, Jerry
  24. I have been running KIS 2010 for about a week. I am also running MBAM on both computers real time without a single problem. When I installed KIS I also had SAS Pro which KIS removed. Today I reinstalled SAS Pro and am running it in real time on my laptop along with Win Patrol Pro, and MBAM also in re al time. So far there have been no conflicts or problems. I wonder if there could be a conflict between SAS and MBAM with both running real time if there was an attempt to penetrate my system by malware since both are protecting from much the same types of malware? Would it be better from a potential conflict standpoint to run one real time and the other on-demand? Thanks, Jerry
