  1. Hello and welcome back:

If rebooting the computer does not resolve your issue:

    • Please follow the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x
    • If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and attach to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt)
    • NOTE: There is an FAQ section with valuable information located here - Common Questions, Issues, and their Solutions

Please let us know how it goes.

    Thanks,

  2. Hi, again:

    You wrote:

After ending the task through the task manager, I immediately updated my AV (Malwarebytes of course) and scanned it.

A diligent forum member has aptly pointed out that MBAM is NOT an Antivirus (AV).

This article explains it: Does Malwarebytes Anti-Malware replace antivirus software?

Under the circumstances, if you were surfing the net with "outdated" MBAM and no AV, then you might indeed want to follow the advice offered above, to have a malware expert help you to check the system for infection?

    Just a thought.

    Thank you again,

If you're not sure what's going on with your system, please feel free to have one of our malware experts help to check it.

We cannot perform that sort of work here in this sub-forum.

So I suggest that you might want to please follow the advice in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.
It explains the options for free, expert help >>AND<< the suggested preliminary steps to expedite the process.
A malware analyst will assist you with looking into your issue.

    Thanks,

  4. Hi:

    Welcome back.
Sorry you are still having problems.
It appears that your post and initial logs may have been inadvertently overlooked. :(

As it's been more than 2 months, it would be a good idea to get some fresh logs.

Please read the following and attach to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt)

    NOTE:

Please delete the both scanner tools from your system (if you still have them) and grab fresh copies, as explained in the pinned topic.

Then, as you have already run FRST on this system, please place a check-mark in the Addition.txt option before you run it this time.

Then, please attach all 3 logs to your next reply here in this thread.

It *is* a holiday, of course.

But we will see to it that someone reviews the new logs as soon as possible.

    Thank you again,

  5. You're most welcome.

Once you start your new topic in the malware removal area, please be patient waiting for expert help.

The forum is quite busy, most of the helpers are volunteers, and it is a holiday.

It might be 48 hours before an expert is available to assist.

In the interim, please do not "bump" the post -- doing so will convey the appearance that you are being helped and could lead to further delay.

(This is all explained in that pinned topic I mentioned in my previous reply. :) )

    Thank you again,

    >>If the computer is so crippled that you cannot even run the preliminary scans suggested in the pinned topic, then please just start a new topic in the malware removal section anyway, explaining the situation. The helpers there will have other methods and tools to try to help you.

  7. Blast from the past and a bit of an acquired taste (the original *is* long)....

Aside from being the soundtrack to very famous movie most of us boomers will remember, apparently, this album launched the music mogul career of Richard Branson (no other label would take the risk of signing the artist).

It was most definitely ground-breaking at the time.

Hearing this today (on RadioParadise) certainly conjures up fond memories and goosebumps.

    Enjoy!

  9. Hi:

    Thanks for the logs.

We will need to wait for staff/experts to formally review them.

Until then, the one thing that stands out is that you have remnants of at least 3 AV products installed (Webroot, AVG and Norton).

That is NOT advisable, as it actually reduces the computer's security and can lead to all sorts of problems (clashes, conflicts, slowdowns, instability, etc).

Even if the programs are not running, the drivers can most definitely create problems.

It also looks as if MBAM was installed back on 12/4/2014.

While we wait for someone to review your logs, you might want to do the following:

    • Fully uninstall -- using the vendor's removal tool, if available -- 2 of the 3 AVs
    • Cleanly reinstall MBAM, following the best practices here: MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x

Depending on the staff/expert review of your logs, further investigation might be needed.

    Thanks for your patience,

  10. Hi:

It's not a problem -- I was just steering you to the most efficient way to get help. :)

(The forum moderator team split off your post from the other user's topic. That's because -- in the malware removal section -- only the topic starter and the authorized helper are permitted to reply there.  Each user is asked to start his/her own, separate thread, so that s/he can receive individual, customized help.)

    No worries.

    Cheers,

  11. Hello and :welcome: :

I think that the staff will need more information in order to sort this out -- the name of the detection alone is not enough. :(

So, I suggest the following, in order to get a better idea of what's going on:

    • Please follow the instructions at the bottom of this post to ATTACH to your next reply here in this topic the MBAM SCAN LOG(S) that show(s) the detection.
    • AND please read the following and attach to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt)

    Thanks,
    ----------------------

    How to get scan logs:
(Export log to save as a txt file for posting in the forum when requested)

    • MBAM may prompt to restart the computer after malware removal in order to complete the process -- allow it to do so.
    • After the restart, once you are back to the desktop, open MBAM.
    • Click on the HISTORY tab > APPLICATION LOGS.
    • Double-click on the SCAN LOG which shows the date and time of the scan just performed (or the one you are asked to post).
    • Click EXPORT.
    • Click TEXT FILE (*.txt)
    • In the "Save File" dialog box which appears, click on DESKTOP.
    • In the FILE NAME box, type a name for your scan log.
    • A message box named "File Saved" should appear, stating that "Your file has been successfully exported".
    • Click OK.
    • Attach the saved log to your next reply.

  14. Hi:

In addition to David's expert advice...

It looks as if there is already a duplicate topic about the same issue in the correct forum area here: https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/162921-trojanwin32powessereareg-cannot-be-detected/

The malware research team will be best able to address the issue if the requested information (zipped sample, VT report) is posted in that topic in that specialized section of the forum.

(This sub-section is reserved for discussion of problems installing, configuring and running MBAM, not for malware submissions.)

    Thank you,

  15. Hello and welcome:

We are running Malware Bytes 2.0.4.1028 deployed on about 20 PCs.  We also use Office 365 and have the exact symptoms described here.

    Until AdvancedSetup returns....

The current version of MBAM for Business/Enterprise is version 1.75, not 2.0.4.1028.

Use of the consumer version in a business environment would be a EULA violation.

Moreover, this forum is geared primarily to home users running the consumer version on their personal computers.

So, I would suggest that you might want to open a ticket at the Business Help Desk >>HERE<<.

The dedicated business support team can assist you with your technical issues on all those endpoints, and they and assist you with obtaining the proper licensing.

If you already have a Business license, then that license entitles you to free support from that team. :)

    Thanks very much,
