Program Error

Recommended Posts

I had a recent problem with trying to install the free version of Malwarebytes. The process works just fine until I go to update it and start a scan. This is the code that keeps coming PROGRAM_ERROR_UPDATING (2,0,I/O ERROR)

Please help if anyone has seen this error before.

Best Regards,

TNB

Hello and :welcome:

What antivirus program do you have, and in the meantime try the instructions below?

Please do the following:

  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  • After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here

    • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
    • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it.

We had just the basic things on here before, like windows defender and microsoft security essentials even had the free malwarebytes on here, but we downloaded a free trial of the Norton 2012 and it seems like that is when we began to have problems with our computer. I tried to uninstall Norton 2012 and it wont let me, it bought us to Norton 360 and it said to download it so like idiots we did, but now it shows that there is no file for Norton, but that under our firewall it shows that we have Norton and Microsoft as our anti virus?? I cannot unistall this Norton nor will it allow me to download any other kind of anti virus protection.
