Full Scan In 30 Seconds?

Recommended Posts

I am a long time pro user but I've NEVER seen MBAM move that fast! I tried 4 full scans (C:\, D:\ and E:\) of Windows XP SP 3, and they all completed first in 38 seconds, then 36 seconds, then 41 seconds, then 26. That can't be right... What should I do?

Greetings :)

Please do the following, it should resolve the issue:

  • Open Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and click on the Settings tab
  • Click on Scanner Settings and verify that all of the following are checked:
    • Scan memory objects.
    • Scan startup objects.
    • Scan registry objects.
    • Scan filesystem objects.
    • Scan additional items against heuristics.
    • Enable advanced heuristics engine. (Heuristics.Shuriken)

[*]Click on the Ignore List tab

[*]Verify that none of the following locations are listed and if they are, click on them one at a time and click the Delete button:

    • C:
    • D:
    • E:

Please let us know if the issue is now resolved or not.

Thanks :)

I run a Quick Scan daily 7:30am when nothing else is running: 183,393 objects scanned. Time is usually around 13 minutes. Can't believe full scan runs that fast.

XP/SP3 2.4 gHz - But, I do notice in process monitor, it is not using a whole lot of CPU.

OK. I guess I'll just let it go for now. It is a pretty new pc, about 5 mnths old, but still, I've never even seen a quick scan move THAT quick! I have suspicions about another computer on my home network possibly being infected so when I saw the scans end so quickly, I just had to ask. Thanks for the help.

No problem. Also, try rebooting the system, disk caching will make subsequent scans much quicker until you restart the computer, so for a real timed scan test, be sure it's the first scan you've run since restarting your system.

Also, if your other drives have either few files on them, or few executable files (i.e., if they contain mostly music, videos, pictures etc.), then MBAM will move through such files much faster because it just needs to briefly check those to make sure they aren't executables (infections) in disguise.
