I am trying to follow your instructions for eliminating a virus. I got as far as running defogger. I do not get instructions to reboot.

Thank I clicked in DDS, but Windows cannot open the file. It just asks what program to use.

What am I doing wrong?

Try renaming the dds.scr file to dds.com or dds.exe and run it again. Then just create a new post in the other forum with and someone will assist you as soon as they can.

Your advice worked, but GMER crashes my computer.

Hello Michael,

Try running GMER in safe mode, and if it still crashes, skip that step. Remember those steps of the dds and gmer are not for curing the machine, but just capturing the status of the machine at the time of running those tools. So please follow what AdvancedSetup said and post what you can produce as a new topic in the malware removal forum.
