how to prevent a windows user from using a .exe on file

quite recently i had a huge virus all my information being comprimised and my whole family member what happen was this virus spread through each computer where i put the usb in i learned that any autorun.inf file will run with the person clicking okie to autoplay. Funny thing is that no anti-virus detected it only happen after 4 month after my files were comprimised.

I dont want to make this happen in the future is their a way i can make a user not use the .exe files on xp because my sister frequently prints on my pc and puts in a usb. The only way virus can spread if my pc allows the .exe exection i tried limited user and adminitstator they all allow .exe files/////..................

If you have Malwarebytes paid version this should prevent it happening - Your A/V may detect most but Malwarebytes should remove them -

Preventing the *.exe files from running would now work, cause a lot of the files needed for windows to work correctly use exe files. For example explorer.exe runs your desktop, iexplore.exe runs Internet explorer, calc.exe runs the windows calculator. So preventing the exe files would render your computer useless.

best thing to do is keep your antivirus current and install some other form of layered security. One would be to have the paid version of Malwarebytes, that way it would more than likely stop most infections and help you keep your computers clean.
