PedroHin Posted May 9, 2010 ID:247247 Share Posted May 9, 2010 Something that is often helpful: (this won't hurt, I have done it on many systems, and it simply forces Device Manager to correctly reinstall your CD/DVD device)Start the Run Command PromptType in "regedit" without the parrenthesis then click okGo to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINEThen SYSTEMThen CURRENT CONTROL SETThen CONTROLThen CLASSThen find {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}The whole thing looks like this:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}Then delete the upper and lower filters....Restart your PC. If this doesn't help, the writing laser could just be dead on the drive.
